RINDGE, N.H. - Former Franklin Pierce University women's basketball standout Johannah Leedham '10 on Monday signed a rookie contract with the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. The announcement was made by the club on its official website.

Following her legendary collegiate playing career, Leedham was drafted by the Sun in the third round of the 2010 WNBA Draft (27th overall pick). She has played professionally overseas the past three years, including this winter in France.

“It’s been a few years since we drafted her, so we are excited to see what she can bring to our team,” Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said on the team's website.

Leedham left Franklin Pierce as the all-time leading scorer in Division II women's college basketball with 3,050 career points. It also ranks as the fifth most points across all divisions in women's college basketball history. She was twice named the WBCA/State Farm Division II National Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010, while also garnered the Northeast-10 Conference Player-of-the-Year award three-straight years from 2008-10.

Leedham helped guide Franklin Pierce to three-straight NCAA East Regional championships (2008-10) and a trip to the 2009 Division II national championship game as a junior. During her stellar senior campaign, Leedham led the Ravens to the Final Four and a No. 1 national ranking during the regular season. Franklin Pierce also won back-to-back NE-10 championships in her final two seasons.

Leedham recently represented Great Britain in the 2012 Summer Olympics as she starred for her home country which was making its first appearance in the sport of women's basketball in the Olympic games. Leedham averaged a team-best 16.2 points per game, while also posting averages of 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. For her efforts, Leedham was named to EuroBasket.com's All-Olympic Women's Basketball Second-Team, joining the likes of USA's Diana Taurasi and Angel McCoughtry.

The Connecticut Sun will officially tip off its season on May 25 and the WNBA regular season calendar will continue through mid-September. For more information on the Sun please visit the team's official website at http://www.wnba.com/sun(.)
