Franklin Pierce and
Assumption men ranked 15th and 24th,
Bentley women remain ranked second in the
nation
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Assumption College has catapulted into the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Top-25 Poll, coming in at No. 24 in the most recent rankings.
The poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon, also featured
Franklin Pierce University ranked 15th in the nation.
Franklin Pierce (6-1, 4-1 NE-10) fell eight spots from the
previous poll after an 87-75 loss at Saint Anselm College this past
weekend, although the Ravens responded with a 61-60
come-from-behind victory Tuesday night at Bentley University.
Junior Ellis Cooper (pictured, left) and
senior Eric Jean-Guilliaume lead the
Ravens in scoring at 15.1 points per game apiece. Cooper is also
averaging 6.7 rebounds.
Assumption (7-0, 5-0 NE-10) is off to an undefeated start to
begin the 2012-13 season, the latest coming in a 55-52 victory on
the road at The College of Saint Rose over the weekend. The
Greyhounds, who have held opponents to a conference low 59.9 points
per game on the season, have also won their last three games by a
combined seven points.
Senior Ronson Quick leads Assumption in
scoring (16.1 ppg), while senior Ryan
Rozsnaki is averaging 8.9 rebounds and 7.6 assists
per game.
The University of Massachusetts Lowell (6-1, 4-1 NE-10) was receiving votes in the latest poll.
In the most recent Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top-25 poll, which was released on Tuesday, Bentley University remained ranked second in the nation for the fourth straight week.
The Falcons (6-0, 5-0 NE-10) are coming off a 10-point victory at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday and an 80-52 win over Franklin Pierce on Tuesday. Junior Lauren Battista (pictured, right), the reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year, leads the team in both scoring (13.8) and rebounding (7.2).
Assumption (6-1, 4-1 NE-10) was also receiving votes in the latest edition of the poll.
