Stonehill's Dixon, Bentley's Battista lead their
teams to tomorrow evening's East Region semifinals

WALTHAM, Mass. - The 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball East Regional Quarterfinals took place Friday at The Dana Center in Waltham, with No. 12 Stonehill College and No. 3 Bentley University advancing to Saturday evening's semifinals.

#2 Stonehill 78, #7 Franklin Pierce 66 | BOX | HIGHLIGHTS
Junior Mary Louise Dixon (pictured, right) led second-seeded Stonehill College past seventh-seeded Franklin Pierce University, 68-58, on Friday afternoon behind a game-high 32 points, including 25 in the second half, and 12 rebounds.

With the win, the No. 12 Skyhawks (24-4) advance to take on third-seeded Dowling on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. after Dowling defeated NYIT, 62-51, earlier Friday afternoon. 

Stonehill was down 35-27 at the break, but shot 56 percent and outscored the Ravens (18-11), 51-31 in the second half en route to victory.

Dixon shot 8-of-13 from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line (13-13) in the win and also added five assists. Junior teammate Asia Ewing added 19 points.

Franklin Pierce senior Amanda Saab had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Ravens, while freshman Kara Charette had 19 points and seven boards.

#1 Bentley 68, #8 LIU Post 57 | BOX | HIGHLIGHTS
Backed by a game-high 27 points from junior Lauren Battista (pictured, below), regional host Bentley (29-1) earned a 65-57 victory over eighth-seeded LIU Post on Friday evening. The Falcons advance to Saturday's semifinals here in Waltham, where they will take on Holy Family at 7:30 p.m.

Battista shot 12-of-17 from the floor and added five rebounds, three assists and two blocks with just one turnover in 37 minutes. Junior Jacqui Brugliera was the only other Bentley player in double digures with 10 points, while junior Christiana Bakolas had eight points, six assists and six steals in the win.

LIU Post pulled to within two points at the break at 31-29, but the Falcons shot a blistering 65 percent in the second half to seal the win. Smantha Kopp had 19 points and eight boards for the Pioneers.

#4 Holy Family 68, #5 Assumption 62 | BOX | HIGHLIGHTS
Fifth-seeded Assumption College (22-8) fell to fourth-seeded Holy Family (28-2), 68-62, on Friday. A Sabrina Siciliano layup tied it at 62-62 with 1:18 to play in the contest, but Holy Family scored the final six points to close out the win.

Katy Howard had a team-high 17 points for the Greyhounds, and Siciliano contributed 10 points and nine boards in the loss. 

Erin Mann had 25 points and 11 rebounds for Holy Family.
