WORCESTER, Mass. - As part of a “Coats for Kids” Drive on campus, the Assumption College women’s basketball team took part as the college donated 60 coats, hats, gloves and mittens to students in need at the Chandler Elementary School and the Worcester Arts Magnet School in Worcester.
The women's basketball team accounted for 35 coats thru
generosity from friends, family and various athletic department
administrators and athletic teams. The drive was done in
conjunction with the Reach Out Center at Assumption.
The Assumption women's basketball team volunteers at the Chandler
Elementary School on a weekly basis throughout the year and has
worked with the school for the past five years. This season, the
team is working with two first-grade classes, two second-grade
classes and two sixth-grade classes on teaching the students how to
read. Each Wednesday, six members of the women’s basketball
team visit the school with members of the coaching staff.
