NE10 Women's Soccer Report: Week 2

Women's Soccer - Week 2

Week 2 - September 11, 2023

NE10 Player of the Week

Cassie Tofteroo, Saint Michael's
Junior | F | Bridgewater, Mass.

Tofteroo scored her first three college goals over the weekend, including netting two in the final 32 seconds on Saturday at IUP to clinch a stunning 2-2 draw. Her second tally came as the final buzzer sounded. In a 2-0 win at Shippensburg on Sunday, Tofteroo potted the 11th-minute game-winner.

NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Kayla Mushorn, Adelphi
Senior | Defense | Massapequa, N.Y.

Mushorn has scored quite a number of career game-winners from long distance, and Wednesday night was no different. With the game tied 1-1 against Holy Family, Mushorn made a great challenge in the attacking half to dispossess her opponent and struck the game-winner from approximately 25 yards out in the 62nd minute.

NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week

Caitlin Daley, New Haven
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Norwich, Conn.

Facing a total of 14 shots in the game, Daley completed her second shutout of the season in a 2-0 home opening win over Georgian Court. Daley closed out the game with six saves as she played the full 90 minutes for the third straight game.

NE10 Rookie of the Week

Maggie Warner, Saint Anselm
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Saugus, Mass.

Posted a pair of shutouts in net for Saint Anselm, recording five saves in a pair of 0-0 draws. In a rematch of last season's NCAA tournament draw with Bridgeport, Warner made three saves and kept the contest even.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Madison Apicella, Adelphi (So., M/F - Holbrook, N.Y.)
With her team down a goal at halftime, Apicella - who accounted for her team's first five shots of the half - drilled the equalizer in the 56th minute for her second goal in as many games. Apicella registered eight of Adelphi's 14 second-half shots.

Frida Larsson, Assumption (Fr., GK - Falkenberg, Sweden)
Larsson increased her shutout streak to begin the season to 142 minutes, with a shutout at Bentley and 62+ minutes at Mercy before the game was suspended. She logged five saves in over a game and a half.

Riley Drosopoulos, New Haven (So, D - Marshfield, Mass.)
Just under four minutes out of the halftime break, Drosopoulos scored the game-winning goal for the Chargers, working with an assist from senior Angelina Schilling. The goal from Drosopoulos was her first of the season and just the second of the year for the Chargers while her classmate Ashlee Crumrine added a second goal late in the game.

Juliana Anastopoulos, St. Michael's (So., GK - Chestnut Hill, Mass.)
Anastopoulos stopped all four shots sent her way during a 1-0-1 weekend. In a 2-2 draw on Saturday at IUP, Anastopoulos worked a shutout opening half thanks to two saves. During a 2-0 victory at Shippensburg on Sunday, she made another pair of stops while posting a clean second half of relief.

Mia Klammer, Saint Rose (Jr., F - Mahopac, N.Y.)
Klammer recorded a goal and an assist in the No. 6 Golden Knights' home-opening victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

Abby Aughe, Southern Conn. St. (So., GK - Springfield, Pa.)
In her first career win with the Owls, Aughe made two saves in a 6-0 win against Post in 81:15 minutes in goal for her first shutout at SCSU. For the year, Aughe is 1-1-1 with a .667 save percentage and a 1.03 goals against average.

Alexie Rosado, Southern Conn. St. (Sr., F - North Branford, Conn.)
In a 6-0 win against Post, Rosado led the Owls with a goal and assist in Southern's road win, which also stands as their first of the season. Rosado's goal was her first of her career.
