Bentley's Tarentino Earns First Team Academic All-America Honors.

MANFIELD, Mass. – A pair of football players from the Northeast-10 Conference have been selected as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon. Bentley's Jake Tarention was named to the First Team, while New Haven's Giye Jenkins was a Second Team selection.

Tarentino, a native of Clark, N.J., was the only NE10 football player to earn First Team status with a 3.82/3.81 GPA as a Finance major during his time as an undergraduate and graduate student. He was selected to the special teams position on the Academic All-America team after helping Bentley to a 6-4 season (5-2 NE10) - just one game away from winning the NE10 Championship.

Jenkins, a native of West Orange, N.Y., adds to his 2023 accolades by being named to the Second Team at defensive back. The junior standout has posted a 3.51 GPA as a Computer Science/Game Design & Development major. Jenkins helped lead New Haven to the NE10 Championship this past season, on his way to being named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team selection on the Associated Press (AP) All-America Team.

CSC Academic All-America teams are recognized across four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The 26 members of the First Team Academic All-America Team in Division II football have an average GPA of 3.83, with the entire 52-man team holding a collective average GPA of 3.81. The Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America program.
