Greyhounds Advanced to NCAA Semifinals in 2022.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Coming off the program's second-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II semifinals, Assumption has been once again tabbed as the preseason favorite - according to the NE10 Field Hockey Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday afternoon.
It is the second-straight year that the Greyhounds have been selected first by NE10 head coaches, as they recorded 157 points and a league-high five first-place votes. A reigning NE10 co-regular season champion, Assumption advanced to the NCAA semifinals last season and finished the year with a 15-6 overall record under head coach Annie Lahey.
Saint Anselm, the other NE10 co-regular season champion in 2022, finished close behind Assumption with 153 points and three first-place votes for a second-place finish. Adelphi, the reigning NE10 tournament champion, finished tied for third with Pace at 141 points, but earned just two first-place tallies to Pace's four.
Bentley (127 points), New Haven (105 points), Southern New Hampshire (95 points) and St. Thomas Aquinas (86 points) were the next four teams and would all qualify for the NE10 Field Hockey Championship, according to the poll. The NE10 has had five different field hockey programs win each of its last five championship titles, dating back to the 2017 season.
