The Greyhounds came out the gate fast, winning a penalty stroke put home by Callie Beauparlant, grabbing her third goal on the year, and putting Assumption up just 37 seconds into the game. Lily Daly and Mia Salahcontinued to pressure Celeste Pagliaroli in goal, but the Setters remained strong. After one quarter, the Hounds were up 1-0.

The second quarter was slower than the first, with Beauparlant picking up a green card, forcing Assumption into a shorthanded defense with three minutes remaining in the half. The Hounds saw it out despite multiple shots and penalty corners from the Setters. At half, it was still a one-goal game.

Pace was the first side to get on the board in the second half through Julia Eshleman, who got her eighth goal on the year off of a penalty corner assisted by Krista Dietz. The Hounds survived a storm of Setter pressure afterward and were the first to respond, as Caroline McSweeney tapped home on an open goal on a loose ball in front to restore the Hounds' lead. It would remain 2-1 with fifteen minutes to go.

Assumption struck first, with Daly continuing her amazing season, adding her fifteenth goal and putting Assumption up 3-1. Pace pressed, with a Dietz shot deflecting off the crossbar right before they scored through Eshleman again, making it 3-2 with less than six minutes to play. In the final two minutes, the Setters had five penalty corners, suffocating the space in front of Gillette, who continued to pull off saves. With their backs against the wall until the final whistle, it was Assumption who emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, advancing to the Northeast-10 Championship game.

No. 2 Saint Anselm 3, No. 6 Adelphi 1

Head coach Carolyn King-Robitalle earned her 150th head coaching victory on Friday as the Saint Anselm College field hockey team earned a 3-1 victory over Adelphi University in the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Championship tournament at Grappone Stadium. The win gives the Hawks (17-3), ranked No. 5 in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHA) poll, a spot in the league's title game on Sunday, Nov. 5. The appearance in the NE10 championship game will be the fourth for Saint Anselm and first since winning its only league title in 2019.

Adelphi struck first at the 3:30 mark into the first quarter, with Jillian Riche evading the Hawks defense and finding the back of the cage, giving the visitors the early 1-0 edge.  Sophomore Marissa Politano (Acton, Mass.) netted the Hawks' equalizer in the second quarter off a helper from junior Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.). The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 at the halftime break.  In the third quarter, junior Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.) tallied her third goal of the season, the eventual game-winner, off an assist by junior Abby Breznyak (Oakland, Maine) to put the Hawks in front 2-1.  Clinging to the one-goal advantage into the fourth, sophomore Maggie Burchill (Braintree, Mass.) notched her seventh goal of the year off an assist from senior Abbey Bevens (Pelham, N.H.) with 2:28 remaining, to cement the 3-1 win over the visiting Panthers.

Saint Anselm held a 20-3 advantage in shots on goal in the contest, as the defensive unit allowed just one shot on goal after the first quarter.

Saint Anselm advances to the NE10 Championship game and is 1-2 all-time in the title, having finished as league runners-up in 2018 and 2016 before bringing home the Hawks first title in 2019, a 2-0 victory over cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire.
