UMass Lowell handles Le Moyne at home, Saint Rose takes
down
Adelphi on road to advance to Northeast-10 Quarterfinals

In first-round action of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship, eighth-seeded University of Massachusetts Lowell defeated ninth-seeded Le Moyne College, 82-65, and 10th-seeded The College of Saint Rose took down seventh-seeded Adelphi University on the road, 67-57.

UMass Lowell moves on to the Northeast-10 Championship Quarterfinals, where it will take on top-seeded Saint Anselm College at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Saint Rose (pictured) draws second-seeded Assumption College (4:00 p.m.).

The two other quarterfinal contests will feature third-seeded University of New Haven hosting sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University and fifth-seeded Southern Connecticut State University traveling to fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce University. Both contests tip of at 3:00 p.m.

#8 UMass Lowell 82, #9 Le Moyne 65 – BOX
After seeing three ties and five lead changes in the first half against Le Moyne, UMass Lowell (15-12) opened up the second half with an 18-4 run en route to its 17-point victory over the Dolphins.

The River Hawks shot 54.9 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from three-point territory, while Le Moyne (13-14) shot 50 percent from the field but just 13.3 percent at the free throw line (2-15).

Chad Holley had a game-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting for UMass Lowell, while Antonio Bivins had 13 points, seven rebounds and six steals in the victory.

Connor Mahoney had a career-high 19 points for the Dolphins in the loss, while center Jim Janson had 12 points, five boards and three blocks.

#10 Saint Rose 67, #7 Adelphi 57 – BOX
Saint Rose held Adelphi to a mere 20 percent shooting (6-30) in the first half, giving the Golden Knights a 34-18 halftime lead in their road win Friday night. The Panthers managed to trim the lead to as little as seven at 43-36 with 11:20 to play in regulation, but they would get no closer.

For Saint Rose (14-13), Andre Pope had a game-high and season-best 23 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists. Tyler Sayre came through with 16-points and eights, and Dominkyas Milka contributed eight points, nine boards, three steals and two blocks.

Chris Ranglin totaled 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Adelphi (14-15), while Cliff Brown had a team-high 15 points.
