Northeast-10 Conference Sends Five Teams to NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

Franklin Pierce earns top seed, East Region to
be played at Southern New Hampshire University

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Five members of the Northeast-10 Conference received bids to participate in the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, it was announced Sunday night.

Franklin Pierce University, which lost in the conference championship finals Saturday afternoon, earned the top seed for the second consecutive season for the East Region which is scheduled to get underway Saturday, March 16 at the SNHU Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.

Each game of the 2013 East Regional Championship will be available online free of charge at northeast10.tv, courtesy of an agreement reached between the three conferences that make up the East Region – the Northeast-10, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), and the East Coast Conference (ECC) – to provide the games without a cost to our fans.

Saint Anselm College, which is hosting the East Regional because the top-seeded Ravens did not put in a bid to host, was awarded the second seed, while Assumption College was given the third seed at the eight-team regional.

The University of New Haven was awarded the fourth seed, while So. New Hampshire enters the NCAA East Region field as the No. 6 seed.

The Northeast-10 Conference will have at least one representative in each of the four first round games of the East Regional, while the No. 3 seed vs. the No. 6 seed game will feature two schools representing the NE-10 as Assumption will take on So. New Hampshire.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
