WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The
University of New Haven women's basketball team volunteered at a
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event on Sunday. The Chargers
assisted with registration and check-in for the more than 4,000
participants in the walk at Lighthouse Point Park in downtown New
Haven.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, which is a part of a
national campaign from the American Cancer Society, raised more
than $160,000 this weekend in the Elm City.
The University of New Haven Department of Athletics is
dedicated to serving its campus, local, national and global
communities. In concert with the NCAA Division II initiative of
service as one of the six key attributes that summarize the
Division II student-athlete experience, all Charger athletic
programs will perform community service throughout the 2013-14
academic year. New Haven student-athletes compete annually for the
Charger Cup, which aggregates each team's athletic, academic and
service achievements.
