RINDGE, N.H. – Former Franklin Pierce University and Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball standout Johannah Leedham '10 has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2013 FIBA Europe Women’s Player-of-the-Year award. The announcement was made on Friday on FIBA Europe’s website (www.fibaeurope.com).

Fans can take part in the voting for the women’s player-of-the-year award by visiting http://www.fibaeurope.com/cid_9966Y5vTJbk-yhC0jSiH41.html to view all the candidates and make their selections. The fan vote will be combined with voting conducted by a panel of league experts

The finalists were selected based on their performances at both the club and international levels throughout 2013.

A year after guiding Great Britain to a berth in the 2012 Summer Olympics, Leedham once again proved to be the face of her country’s basketball team as she averaged 16.8 points and 4.5 assists per game in the EuroBasket Women’s Tournament leading Team GB to an impressive second round berth.

Leedham’s heroics weren’t limited to the international level, but also at the club level in EuroLeague Women for Bourges Basket of France. She was a steadying offensive presence for Bourges by averaging 8.4 points a night, while helping to guide the squad to a bronze medal in EuroLeague.

Leedham has been one of the top international players since graduating from Franklin Pierce in the spring of 2010. Her stellar play should not be surprising as she left Rindge as one of the most decorated players in women’s college basketball history, including twice being named the WBCA Division II National Player of the Year (2008 & 2010), and becoming the all-time leading scorer in Division II history with 3,050 points. Franklin Pierce women’s basketball also experienced tremendous success during Leedham’s career, including winning three-straight NCAA East Region Championships, and advancing to the 2009 Division II national championship game.
