High Seeds Advance to Semifinals of NE10 Women's Tennis Championship

Franklin Pierce, Adelphi Move On to Semifinal Round.


MANSFIELD, Mass. - Reigning champion Franklin Pierce and Adelphi both won quarterfinal matchups in the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Wednesday, advancing to Friday's semifinal round. The No. 3 Ravens shut out No. 6 New Haven, 4-0, while No. 4 Adelphi edged No. 5 Stonehill, 4-2. 

Franklin Pierce will travel to play in-state rival Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals, while Adelphi will head up to Syracuse to face top-seeded Le Moyne - the NE10 regular season champion. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., barring any inclement weather. The two winners will play on Sunday in the NE10 Women's Tennis Championship final. 


(3) Franklin Pierce 4, (6) New Haven 0 – Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. - The No. 3 seed Franklin Pierce women's tennis team, the reigning NE10 champion, defeated No. 6 seeded New Haven by a 4-0 margin on Wednesday in the NE10 Championship quarterfinals. The Ravens will advance to play at No. 2 seeded Southern New Hampshire on Friday in the semifinals. 

Graduate student Himani Mor (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles), junior Liria Loria (No. 3 singles, No. 1 doubles) and graduate student Estela Carra (No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles) each picked up a pair of victories to earn the shutout win over the Chargers. Franklin Pierce (9-2, 8-2 NE10) will look to defend its NE10 title and avenge an early-season loss to the Penmen in the next round. 


(4) Adelphi 4, (5) Stonehill 2 – Box Score

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The No. 4 seed Adelphi women's tennis team will make another trip to the NE10 semifinals, following Wednesday's 4-2 win over fifth-seeded Stonehill in the first round of the 2021 NE10 Championship at the Adelphi Tennis Courts in Garden City.

The Panthers (9-3) will now look to upset top-seeded Le Moyne in Friday's semifinal round and earn their first trip to the NE10 Championship final since the team's three-peat year of 2017.

Barbie Quagliardi (No. 2 singles, No. 1 doubles) and Julia Kielan (No. 5 singles, No. 3 doubles) each secured singles and doubles wins for the Panthers, leading them to victory.
