NE10 Player of the Week

Marty Silvera, SCSU
Junior l Point Guard l Worcester, Mass.

All-NE10 guard Marty Silvera averaged a team-high 20 points per game, as well as 7.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 73.7% (14-19) from the floor and 42.9% (3-7) from three-point range. Against UDC in a 75-65 win in the Owls season opener, Silvera had a team-high 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting while also totaling seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. Against Bridgeport in a 98-94 win, Silvera went for 19 with seven assists, four steals and three boards.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Ethan Simmon, New Haven
Redshirt Freshman | Forward | Edison, N.J.

Making his debut with the Chargers, Simmon averaged 14 points and 2.5 rebounds across a 1-1 weekend at the Golden Knights Tip-off Tournament. He opened up his career with New Haven scoring 17 points in an OT game against Post, shooting 5-of-11 from the field and adding a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. He followed that up with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Dayshaun Walton, Adelphi (So., G - Albany, N.Y.)
Opening the season with a 1-1 weekend, Adelphi men's basketball scoring was led by sophomore Dayshaun Walton, who accounted for 18.0 points per game. Despite a loss to Queens, he shot 61.5 percent from the field to help his 19 point performance and tallied a 11-for-12 night at the free throw line in the victory over Molloy.

Justice Ellison, American Int'l (Jr., G - Windsor, Conn.)
Ellison dominated the floor in a pair of wins to open the season for AIC, shooting 50.0% and averaging 19.5 points per game in victories at Jefferson and Holy Family. He also grabbed seven boards per game dished seven assists compared to just three turnovers for a 2.3 A/TO ratio.

Kasey Draper, Assumption (Gr., F - Roanoke, Va.)
Draper made an immediate impact on the Greyhounds starting lineup. The transfer from Roanoke College poured in 27 points in Assumption's game against Felician. He followed that up with a 21-point performance in the 82-81 OT win against Bloomfield. Through the two games, he shot 48.5 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from long range. Draper also and one steal per game.

Zach Laput, Bentley (Sr., G - Beacon Falls, Conn.)
The reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year opened the season by averaging 21 points, 8.3 rebounds and four assists as the 16th-ranked Falcons opened the season by winning two of three. Laput shot .500 overall, made six of 14 three-pointers and was 13 of 14 from the line. Against Georgian Court Saturday, he had 23 points, 11 rebounds and five dimes. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic after scoring 18 against Colorado School of Mines and 22 against Missouri-St. Louis.

Davontrey Thomas, New Haven (Sr., F - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
Thomas opened up the new season averaging 15 points and 4.5 rebounds per game across a 1-1 weekend at the Golden Knights Tip-Off Tournament against Post and Wilmington. He opened up the weekend with 12 points, shooting 4-of-9 from the field against the Eagles and followed that up with an 18 point effort in the win over the Wildcats. Overall for the weekend, he shot 47.6 percent from the field (10-of-21) and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc (4-of-13).

Bryan Powell, Pace (Sr., F - Middletown, N.Y.)
Powell was a key force in the Setters 2-0 weekend to open the season. Playing all 50 minutes Pace's double-OT win over Queens, he scored 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds. The following day against Molloy, he provided a double double with 13 points and 10 boards, he chipped in six assists.

Josh Morissette, Saint Anselm (So., G - Exeter, N.H.)
Morissette capped off Saint Anselm's season-opening weekend at the Staten Island Tournament of Heroes by draining 31 points. The sophomore guard dropped 18 points against hosts Staten Island shooting 36.4 percent from three (4-11) to help the Hawks pick up their first win of the season. He is currently tied on the team with 13 total rebounds and has three assists, two steals, and a block to his name.

Darrel Yepdo, Saint Michael's (So., G - Dracut, Mass.)
Sophomore Darrel Yepdo (Dracut, Mass.) averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals during a 1-1 weekend, shooting 46.2% overall, 46.2% from three (6-for-13) and 88.9% on free throws. With the Purple Knights hosting the Best Western Windjammer Doc Jacobs Classic, Yepdo totaled nine points, five steals, four assists and a rebound in a 60-56 loss to Bloomfield on Friday before collecting a career-high 29 points - including 24 in the second half - to go along with seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal in an 89-75 win over Felician on Saturday. Yepdo, who shot 5-of-6 from three against Felician, was named the tournament's Clifford J. Breiner Most Valuable Player.

Josh McGettigan, Southern Connecticut State (Sr., F - Sudbury, Conn.)
First-year Owl Josh McGettigan, who joined the Owls this season after transferring from Saint Rose, averaged a team-high 18 points in a pair of season-opening wins against University of the District of Columbia and Bridgeport while shooting 46.7% from the floor and 40% from three-point range. Against UDC, McGettigan had 17 points and nine rebounds as well as two steals. Against Bridgeport, McGettigan totaled 19 points with six rebounds.

Matt Becht, Southern New Hampshire (Gr., G - Vienna, Va.)
Becht averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 60 percent (12-20) from the field, including 56.3 percent (9-16) from beyond the arc, during a 1-1 week for the Penmen. Becht led the team with 20 points (7-11 FG, 4-7 3-FG, 2-2 FT), a career-high six assists and four rebounds in an 88-81 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday. He added 16 points (5-9 FG, 5-9 3-FG, 1-3 FT), three victory at Staten Island.
