NE10 Player of the Week

Marty Silvera, Southern Connecticut
Junior l Guard l Worcester, Mass.

In a 2-0 week that saw Southern knock off American International and Saint Rose, Silvera posted back-to-back 20-point performances while hitting on 14-of-24 (58.3%) from the floor and 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Silvera also averaged 6.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 6.0 steals per game. Against AIC, he potted 20 while converting on 8-of-12 from the field including 2-of-3 from long range and totaling nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Against Saint Rose, Silvera had 20 points, hitting on 6-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line, and also had a season-best eight steals, four assists and three boards.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Jah'Likai King, New Haven
Freshman | Guard | Newburgh, N.Y.

Including his sixth 25+ point game of the season, King led New Haven scorers on the week with an 18.5 points per game average, shooting 48.1 percent from the field (13-27), including 5-11 from beyond the three beyond the arc. King opened up the week with 11 points in a home win over Assumption and followed that up with a 26-point performance to lead the team in an OT win at Southern New Hampshire. In addition, King added nine rebounds and eight assists combined across the two games.


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Justice Ellison, American Int'l (Jr., G/F - Windsor, Conn.)
Ellison averaged 18.5 points per game in a 1-1 week, including dropping 25 against Franklin Pierce in a victory on Saturday. He shot 51.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from deep in the two games. 

Njavan Stewart, Assumption (Sr., G - Newton Upper Falls, Mass.)
Stewart averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in two games this week. After stuffing the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, and two steals a New Haven on Tuesday night, Stewart went off for 21 points and 14 rebounds in Assumption's 90-78 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday. This was his third double-double of the year.

Davontrey Thomas, New Haven (Sr., F - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
One of three Chargers to average double figures on the week, Thomas put up 17.0 ppg in a 2-0 week for New Haven. He opened up the week with a team-high 22 points in a home win over Assumption before adding a dozen in an overtime road win at SNHU. For the week, Thomas shot 52% from the field (13-25), including 5-11 from beyond the three point arc. In addition, Thomas added five rebounds, five assists, four steals and a pair of blocks. 

Tyler Arbuckle, Saint Anselm (Sr., G - Bristol, Conn.)
Arbuckle lead the Hawks to a 65-62 conference win over Bentley University on Tuesday with a team-high 19 points along with three rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. He also dropped 34 points during Saturday's loss to Assumption, his second 30-plus point game this season, after making 14-of-18 shots from the floor for a 77.8 shooting percentage. Arbuckle is ranked third in the league in both points per game (19.2) and field goals made per game (6.8-15.3).

Romar Reid, Saint Michael's (Sr., G - Mount Vernon, N.Y.)
Reid averaged 22.0 points on 47.1% shooting, including 45.5% (5-for-11) from beyond the arc, with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 38.5 minutes per contest in a 1-1 week. Reid totaled 12 points, two rebounds and an assist in an 82-75 loss to regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday before posting 32 points, three boards, four assists and a steal in an 83-82 overtime win at regionally-ranked Pace on Saturday. In that game, Reid shot 12-for-21 from the field, including 4-for-6 from three-point range. 

Ata Turgut, Saint Rose (Jr., F - Ankara, Turkey)
Turgut averaged 20 points per game on 59 percent shooting (13-of-22) this week for the Golden Knights. The forward also logged 8.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.5 steals a game in addition to hitting on 6-of-7 from three. Turgut's best play came on Saturday versus SCSU, where he tallied 26 points, seven boards, and three steals.

Matt Becht, Southern N.H. (Gr., G/F - Vienna, Va.)
Becht registered 21.0 points, 2.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while hitting 48 percent (12-25) of his shots from the floor, including 52.4 percent (11-21) from long distance, and 87.5 percent (7-8) at the line, during a 1-1 week for SNHU. Becht scored 11 of his 19 points (5-11 FG, 5-11 3-FG, 4-5 FT) in the final 3:34 as the Penmen knocked off 24th-ranked Saint Michael's, 82-75, Tuesday. Becht added four rebounds and four assists in the road victory. He then dropped 23 points (7-14 FG, 6-10 3-FG, 3-3 FT) and made a pair of steals in a 76-73 overtime loss to New Haven on Saturday.
