Franklin Pierce Claims Four Major Awards to Highlight Men’s Soccer All-Conference Honors

Ravens win Player, Defensive Player, Goalkeeper & Coach of the Year Awards


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Franklin Pierce claimed four of five possible major awards and had ten players named All-Conference after a dominant regular season to highlight the 2021 NE10 Men's Soccer All-Conference awards released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ravens had a league-best six players named First-Team All-Conference, with four more named to the Second-Team. Southern New Hampshire was second in the NE10 with six players selected as All-Conference, while American International had five players earn All-Conference honors. Franklin Pierce's Carlos Ferrando Felis was selected as the Northeast-10 Player of the Year after earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2019. The defender was an all-around force for the Ravens, totaling two goals but also leading a team which gave up just six goals and posted 12 shutouts. 

Javier Nemesio Garcia was honored as the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year. He was the Ravens' center back during the season and anchored the league-best defense while also scoring two goals with one assist. 

Goalkeeper of the year Kosta Maniatis started 14 games in net for the Franklin Pierce during the regular season, earning a 13-1 record while giving up just five goals with 17 saves and registering nine shutouts. 

New Haven's Pau Santanach was honored as the Rookie of the Year after leading the Chargers to the NE10 Playoffs. He had at least one goal in each of the team's final six regular season games to lead the NE10 with 16 goals and four assists for an NE10-best 36 points. Santanach also finished with five game-winning goals as the team totaled eight wins this season.

Ruben Resendes secured Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his career as he led Franklin Pierce to the top seed while orchestrating the NE10's top offense and the top defense. The team's 11-1 record in NE10 action is its best since 2011. The team currently leads the nation in team GAA (0.33) and ranks fourth nationally in goal differential (+43).
