Regular Season Champs Have Eight Named to All-Conference Teams

South Easton, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose's Christina Cuffari has been named the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Year by the conference's head coaches. Cuffari helped lead the Golden Knights to a 17-1-1 record this fall, including a 13-1-1 mark in conference play to claim the NE-10 regular season title.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell's Brittany Russo was named the NE-10 Rookie of the Year, Merrimack College's Jessica Peacock was named the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, and Southern Connecticut State University's Jacquelyn Fede was named the Northeast-10's Goalkeeper of the Year. Rounding out the superlatives was Pace University's Mike Winn, who was named the 2011 Coach of the Year by his peers.

Cuffari helped lead an offensive attack that currently ranks first in all of Division II averaging 3.72 goals per game. The senior midfielder tallied 23 points this season behind six goals and eleven assists. Her assist total was second-best in the Northeast-10. She was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer First Team.

Russo, the high-scoring forward from UMass Lowell, garnered Rookie of the Year honors. The first year player from Danvers, Massachusetts led the River Hawks in goals (9) and points (19) in her first year of collegiate action. Her nine tallies were also tied for fourth in the NE-10. She helped UMass Lowell earn the third seed in the Northeast-10 Championship, as the River Hawks were 10-3-2 in conference play this year. Russo was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer First Team.

Merrimack's Jessica Peacock was named the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Peacock lead a defensive unit that posted a 0.76 goals against average this season en route to a 15-2-1 overall record. Peacock has also helped the Warriors hold nine of their 18 opponents so far this year scoreless. The senior also provided some offensive punch, scoring three goals and adding three helpers for nine total points. She was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer First Team.

So. Connecticut's Fede was awarded the honor of Goalkeeper of the Year by the conference's head coaches. Fede, who appeared in ten games, helped the Owls post a mark of 7-2-1 in games that she played. She only allowed six goals all season long, and was among the Northeast-10 leaders in goals against average (0.59) and save percentage (.829). The graduate student from North Haven, Connecticut was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer First Team.

Pace's Mike Winn was named the Northeast-10 Women's Soccer Coach of the Year by his peers. Winn, who returned to the sidelines after a three-year absence, helped turn around a program that only won three conference games a year ago. This year, under Winn's direction, the Setter were 8-9-1 overall, 7-6-1 in NE-10 play, and earned a berth in the Northeast-10 Championship.

Also, announced on Thursday were the conference's First, Second, and Third teams, as well as the All-Rookie Team. Saint Rose led the way with eight student-athletes receiving all-conference nods.
