Saint Rose Picked to Repeat in Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Poll

South Easton, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose, 23-1-1, 15-0 NE-10 a year ago, is the early favorite to claim its fifth straight women's soccer Northeast-10 title according to the conference coaches in this year's annual preseason poll.  The Golden Knights received 13 first-place votes and 223 points after compiling a perfect 15-0 record in conference action last season.

The four-time defending conference champs have now gone undefeated in NE-10 action for two consecutive seasons and outscored league opponents 46-5 last year.  The Golden Knights also advanced to the Division II national semifinals for the third straight season a year ago.

Franklin Pierce University (14-6-1, 10-4-1 NE-10) received two first-place votes, and tallied 207 points for second place while American International College (14-7-1, 9-5-1 NE-10) garnered the other first-place vote en route to 193 total points and a third-place finish.  Franklin Pierce finished third in the NE-10 a year ago with American Int'l placing fourth.

Merrimack College (12-5-3, 11-3-1), which finished third in the NE-10 last season, took the fourth position in the coaches' voting with 190 points.  The University of Massachusetts Lowell (8-8-2, 8-7 NE-10) came in fifth with 154 points, while Adelphi University (8-8-1, 8-7 NE-10) took the sixth position with 148 points.

Meanwhile, Southern New Hampshire University (10-7-1, 9-5-1 NE-10) was selected seventh by the coaches with 132 points and Southern Connecticut State University (8-6-3, 6-6-3 NE-10) finished eighth with 129 points.  Stonehill College (8-8-2, 6-7-2 NE-10) took ninth with 107 points while the University of New Haven (9-8-2, 7-6-2 NE-10) collected an even 100 points to round out the top ten.

The remainder of the voting included Le Moyne College (7-7-3, 5-7-3 NE-10) with 83 points, Saint Anselm College (5-10-1, 5-9-1 NE-10) with 69 points, Assumption College (4-11-2, 4-10-1 NE-10) with 68 points, Saint Michael's College (5-10-2, 4-9-2 NE-10) with 66 points, Pace University (5-13, 3-12 NE-10) with 31 points, and Bentley University (0-15-2, 0-13-2 NE-10) with 20 points.
