Franklin Pierce Earns NE10 Automatic Qualifier.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference has a pair of programs who are ready to go dancing, as Franklin Pierce and Stonehill – the league champion and finalist, respectively – have been chosen to participate in the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, as announced on Tuesday night.
Franklin Pierce, the 2021 Spring NE10 Women's Tennis Champion, is the league's automatic qualifier after the Ravens beat Stonehill, 4-2, on Sunday to claim their first-ever league title. Boasting an undefeated 12-0 record, the Ravens clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming East Regional.
Stonehill provided a pleasant surprise by being selected as an at-large bid for the No. 4 and final spot in the East Regional. The Skyhawks made a run to the NE10 Championship match as the No. 3 seed, before falling just short of winning its third-straight league title. Stonehill is 10-3 entering NCAA postseason play.
First round matches are scheduled for Monday, May 10, at the Queens College Athletic Complex in Flushing, N.Y. Franklin Pierce will play Queens (NY), while Stonehill faces-off against top-seeded Concordia (NY). Game times are to be determined.
Preliminary rounds of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship will be played from May 7-11 at eight different regional sites. The winning team from each site will advance to the finals, which are scheduled from May 18-20 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
