FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Panthers, Penmen Win Regular Season Titles.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi and nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire will be the top seeds in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship, as the league announced its divisional-based bracket format on Saturday night.
It took the Panthers until the last day of the conference season to claim the Southwest Division crown, sweeping Pace in a four-game set this weekend to finish with a 14-7 (.667) mark in league play. Adelphi won 10 of its last 12 NE10 contests to edge Le Moyne for the top seed. It is the second-straight Southwest Division title for the Panthers.
Southern New Hampshire, the No. 11 ranked team in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll, finished 19-5 in NE10 play this season – capturing the Northeast Division regular season title for the fourth-straight season. The Penmen are looking for their first NE10 title since 2016.
As announced on April 1, the NE10 Baseball Championship will occur in a divisional format. For seedings and matchups for the 2021 NE10 Baseball Championship, please see the schedule below for dates and times of the divisional first round, divisional semifinals, divisional final and championship final.
Adelphi and Southern New Hampshire will receive first-round byes during the divisional first round games, which are scheduled for Tuesday, May 11.
Divisional semifinals will be played on Thursday, May 13. The divisional finals – played in the form of a best-of-three game series – will be on Sunday, May 16, and if necessary, Monday, May 17. The championship final will also be a best-of-three, played on Friday, May 21, and if necessary, Saturday, May 22.
Conference winning percentage was the metric used to determine championship seeding, as not all teams played the same number of contests due to COVID-19 protocol.
All games may be impacted by the conference's COVID-19 protocols, but no bracket adjustments will be made after Saturday evening. If a team is not available to play, it will be recorded as a "No Contest" and their opponent will advance to the next round.
