Honor Court recognizes those who
have excelled in academics in 2012-13

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its 2012-13 Honors Court last week, with six Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes from three different institutions receiving the academic honor.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes men’s basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2012-13 season. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

This year, more than 700 were honored from nearly 300 schools.

From Assumption College, senior Tim Beinert received the prestigious academic honor. Bentley University junior David Guillette and senior Mikerson Laurent were both lauded, as were three juniors from The College of Saint Rose in Dominykas Milka, Daniel Mundweiler and Kareem Thomas

Beinert, an Accounting major, started all 29 games this past winter for the Greyhounds, who advanced to the NCAA Division II East Regional semifinals in Manchester, N.H. He averaged 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Bentley’s Guilette, a Finance major, played in 16 contests this past season for the Falcons, while Laurent, who majors in Economics/Finance, appeared in three contests.

Milka helped lead the Golden Knights to the Northeast-10 Championship semifinals by averaging 17.8 points and 11.7 rebounds. A Capital One Academic All-American, the Accounting major also had 18 double-doubles in 29 games and was a Northeast-10 First Team selection.

Mundweiler and Thomas both were named to the Northeast-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall and spring. Mundweiler, a Business Administration major, averaged 8.4 points and 2.4 assists, while Thomas, an Accounting major, averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds this past year.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior and a varsity player, have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.
