New Haven Men's Basketball Ranked 10th in Nation in Sporting News Preview

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In his NCAA Division II college basketball preseason rankings, Sporting News' writer Chuck Mistovich ranked the University of New Haven men's basketball team 10th in the nation.
 
The Chargers are returning four starters and three lettermen from their 20-9 team, which reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in eight years. A season ago those starters include Jeffery AdkinsEric Anderson (pictured)Cyrus James and Justin Exum.
 
Last season, Exum led the team in points per game (15.8), points (442), free throw percentage (.838) and three-point percentage (.432). Adkins led the Chargers in assists, as he dished the ball 112 times and averaged 12.9 points a game. Anderson, who stands at 6-foot-8, garnered 273 defensive rebounds, 76 offensive rebounds, 71 blocks and averaged 12.6 points per game. Anderson was also recognized as a preseason All-America Honorable Mention by the Sporting News. James averaged 5.2 points per game and added 27 blocks on the year. All four starters averaged 34 minutes a game.
 
Two other Chargers who played in every game last season and are also returning in 2013-2014 are Ashanti DePass and Joshua Guddemi.

The Chargers are slated to begin chasing another NCAA Tournament appearance on November 13 when they travel to Holy Family.
