NE10 Swimmers of the Week

Emma Hapkiewicz, Bentley
Senior l South Windsor, Conn.

Hapkiewicz won three races in Bentley's first meet of the season on Saturday against Wheaton. She won the 200, 500 and 1000 freestyle events. She won the 1000 free by 22 seconds.

Ryan Kakimseit, Adelphi
Freshman l New York, N.Y.

In his first-ever collegiate meet, Kakimseit broke the school records in both the 100- and 200-meter backstroke ... His nearly 14-second victory in the 200-back shattered a former record from 2017, while his 100-back time surpassed a record from 2011.

 

NE10 Divers of the Week

Michael Graham, College of Staten Island
Sophomore | Staten Island, N.Y.

Graham took first in both 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving for the CSI men on Friday scoring 174.70 in the 1-meter event and 155.05 in the 3-meter event.

Jordan Swanson, College of Staten Island
Junior l Staten Island, N.Y.

Swanson took first place in both 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving during Friday's meet against Adelphi and Hunter College. Her score of 289.20 in the 1-Meter event gave her an NCAA-qualifying total and set a new CSI program record.


NE10 Rookies of the Week

Madeline Waldt, Saint Michael's
Freshman l Abingdon, Md.

Waldt remained undefeated in distance freestyle races by winning the 500 (5:29.26) and 1,000 (11:16.50) at Division I Le Moyne on Saturday. Waldt, who also swam for the fourth-place 400 freestyle relay quartet (4:03.19), is 6-0 in distance freestyle events.

Freshman l New York, N.Y.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Emily Munayirji, Adelphi (So., Plainview, N.Y.)
Munayirji kicked off her second season in Brown and Gold with four first-place finishes, including a pair of individual victories in the 200 freestyle and backstroke events ... Also led off Adelphi's winning 200 medley and freestyle relays.

Savina Villani, Assumption (Fr., Shrewsbury, Mass.)
Villani had a great first meet as a Greyhound, as the Shrewsbury native had five top-three finishes at the Worcester City Championships at WPI on Saturday. She won the women's 200 IM (2:10.57) before finishing second in the 100 yd breaststroke (1:08.89) and the 200 yd breaststroke (2:27.27). Villani was also a key part in the third medaling relays for Assumption.

Hilla Almog, Bentley (Jr., Wayland, Mass.)
Almog won the 1 meter dive in Bentley's meet against Wheaton with a score of 274. She finished 2nd in the 3 meter dive.

John Zhang, Bentley (Fr., Flushing, N.Y.)
Zhang won three events in his first NCAA meet against Wheaton. He won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and the 200 IM.

Skyla Lang, Bentley (Fr., Roseville, Cal.)
Lang started her career impressively against Wheaton on Saturday by winning both the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM races. She won the 200 IM in 2:12.34, more than six seconds ahead of the next closest swimmer.

Leighton Wielgoszinksi, Bentley (So., Madison, Ind.)
Wielgoszinksi won the 500 and 1000 free races against Wheaton with conference best times so far. He won the 500 in 4:56.21 and the 1000 in 10:13.47

Edna Melendez, College of Staten Island (Fr., Cambrills, Spain)
Melendez took first place in the 200 Fly in Friday's meet against Adelphi and Hunter College posting a time of 2:28.46 that was good for fourth in the conference this week. At the same meet, she also took second in the 200 Back with a time of 2:19.66. That time was also good for second-best in the conference this week and fourth overall for the season.
