NE10 Swimmers of the Week

Rafael Kowal, Saint Michael's
Sophomore l Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Kowal won both of his individual events while posting the best 500 freestyle time in the NE10 this winter during a victory over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday. His 4:40.08 showing in the 500 free was 8.12 seconds better than any other NE10 swimmer this year, and shattered a program record by 4.37 seconds. Kowal also won the 200 IM (2:03.00) while aiding a runner-up 200 medley relay (1:45.23) quartet, posting the top 50 backstroke leadoff leg (27.11).

Emily Munayirji, Adelphi
Sophomore l Plainview, N.Y.

Munayirji was responsible for a top swim in the 500 freestyle, racing to a 5:30.75 finish, defeating Division I swimmers from Manhattan. Her times in the 50 back (29.32) and 100 back (1:03.51) saw her finish third in both races. The 50 back time is top-10 in the NE10 this season while her 100 back from this weekend is 16th overall.


NE10 Rookies of the Week 

Ryan Kakimseit, Adelphi
Freshman l New York, N.Y.

Kakimseit was responsible for two individual top swims and helped the 200 free relay to gold against Division I Manhattan. He clocked in at 23.59 in the 50 back, which ranks second behind his season best in the NE10 and faster than the next top time. In the 100 back, he tapped the wall in 51.60 which is top-four in the conference but sits behind his personal best of 49.76, which is still the best time this season in the specialty among NE10 opposition.

Madeline Waldt, Saint Michael's
Freshman l Abingdon, Md.

Waldt (Abingdon, Md.) won three events on Saturday to help the Purple Knights down SUNY Potsdam. She led off for the top 200 medley relay (2:00.45) before taking the 1,000 freestyle (11:37.90) and 500 freestyle (5:31.35) races.


 
NE10 Relay of the Week
 
Adelphi 200M Men's Freestyle
The men's 200 freestyle relay composed of Ryan Kakimseit, Zachary Taylor, Eric Slavin and Cooper Rivers finished in 1:29.02 to beat out Manhattan's A squad. All four swimmers completed their legs in under 23 seconds, with Cooper Rivers nearly under 22 at 22.07 in the anchor leg.
 
Adelphi 200M Women's Freestyle
The Adelphi women swam a 1:46.37 200m freestyle relay this weekend, ranking second behind only DI Manhattan while outswimming two other Jasper teams and a squad from DI Saint Peters.
 

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Aizel Pusing, Adelphi (Fr., Queens Village, N.Y.)
Pusing put up a first place finish in the 100 IM event, clocking in at 1:02.49 to defeat competition from Division I Manhattan and St. Peter's. She also raced to a second place finish in the 50 breast (32.55), 100 breast (1:10.50) and was the first leg of the 200 free relay that took silver (26.47).
Cooper Rivers, Adelphi (Jr., Lake Elsinore, Calif.)
Rivers collected three individual top swims and helped the 200 freestyle relay to gold in dual meet action against Division I Manhattan. He landed first in the 50 free in a time of 22.35 which is a new season best, and also clocked in at 48.88 in the 100 free to place first. His time in the 100 IM was 54.80 which is the second best time in the NE10 this season.
 
Ashley Meade, Saint Michael's (Fr. Belle Harbor, N.Y.)
Meade won a pair of relays during the Purple Knights' victory on Saturday at SUNY Potsdam to break a school record with 15 relay wins this season. She anchored the top 200 medley relay (2:00.45) before anchoring the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:46.50). In between, Meade was second in the 200 IM (2:21.84.
