MANSFIELD, Mass. - Adelphi junior, and men's swimming and diving captain, Cooper Rivers was honored Wednesday as one of 31 Academic All-American swimmers throughout NCAA DII as selected by College Sports Communicators.
Last week Rivers became Adelphi men's swimming and diving's first winner of the NE10's Sport Excellence Award for the winter sports season. He is a biology major with a 3.65 grade-point average and desires to attend medical school following his graduation from AU.
In the pool, Rivers captured six medals at the NE10 2024 Championship, including four top prizes. He also set a new Adelphi record in the 200 individual medley.
Rivers is the lone All-American honoree from both the NE10 and the Region. The California native is also the only swimming and diving student-athlete at any NCAA or NAIA level to earn Academic All-America status while competing for an institution in New York state.
The Division II Academic All-America program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America® program.
