NE10 Player of the Week
Stan DeMartinis III, Bentley
Sophomore | Infielder | Boca Raton, Fla.
During a 3-1 weekend against Assumption, DeMartinis III homered four times, drove in eight runs, scored six times and had a slash line of .417/.588/1.417. He homered twice and drove in five in his Bentley debut, and went deep in the eighth inning the next day to break an 11-11 eighth-inning tie and give Bentley a 12-11 win. DeMartinis III reached base 10 times in four games.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
George Welch, Southern New Hampshire
Junior | Pitcher | Derry, N.H.
Welch fired a one-hit, complete-game shutout in Saturday's 13-0, game-two victory over Mercy. Welch struck out a career-high 12 batters and walked just two over seven innings.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Tyler Sausville, New Haven
Freshman | Outfielder/Pitcher | Schenectady, N.Y.
Making his collegiate debut, Sausville made his collegiate debut on the bump, pitching six innings across a pair of relief appearances, striking out a staff-best nine batters. His best outing of the two, came against Molloy where he threw the final four innings of a 9-2 win, striking out six batters while allowing just a single hit.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Jackson Haker, American Int'l (So., 3B - Uxbridge, Mass.)
Haker had an incredible opening day for AIC, driving in nine as part of two wins. He had four hits including a double and a triple as AIC routed Alliance University 15-2 and 19-3.
Jared Berardino, Assumption (Jr, OF - Rowley, Mass.)
Berardino extended his hitting streak to seven games following a 7-for-17 week. He hit two home runs and drove in seven in four games against Bentley. In game one on Saturday, Berardino went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI.
Brandon Ostiguy, Bentley (Gr., P - East Greenbush, N.Y.)
In his first career start after 24 relief appearances, Ostiguy pitched five shutout innings against Assumption, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out seven. He earned the victory in the 7-0 shutout of the NE10 home run leaders.
Jordan Goldman, Le Moyne (So., P - Encinitas, Calif.)
Goldman tossed seven scoreless innings and struck out five batters to earn the victory in Le Moyne's 15-0 victory over Mercy on Sunday. He allowed just four hits and one walk as he picked up his first NCAA win.
Wyatt Patchett, Le Moyne (So., C/IF/P - Geneva, N.Y.)
Patchett slashed .556/.765/1.222 with two home runs, four runs batted in, four runs scored and five walks in Le Moyne's 3-1 week. After going 1-1 with two walks and a run in a loss to STAC in the first game of a doubleheader, he went 1-2 with a walk and an RBI, the eighth inning, in a 2-1 extra-inning victory over the Spartans in the nightcap. He then went 1-2 with a run and a walk in a 4-1 win over Bridgeport on Saturday. He closed out the weekend by going 2-4 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in a 15-0 victory over Mercy on Sunday.
Andrew Cain, New Haven (Gr., UTIL/RHP - Seaford, N.Y.)
Cain led New Haven's bats in its opening weekend in Myrtle Beach with eight hits, five of which went for extra bases on a team-best four doubles and a home run. For the week, Cain hit .444 with a .833 slugging percentage. He also finished the week with four stolen bases, three alone in an 11-inning game against Wilmington, in which he finished 3-of-7 at the plate with two doubles among for his three hits. He also finished with four RBI as he went 3-of-4 with a home run in an 8-5 win over Chestnut Hill.
Vincent Civitella, Pace (So., P - Clifton, N.J.)
Civitella hurled five scoreless innings, with no hits allowed, no runs, one walk and nine strikeouts in a win over Saint Michael's.
Connor Goggin, Southern Conn. St. (So., OF - Prospect, Conn.)
In four games this weekend, in which the Owls posted a 3-1 mark, Goggin batted .500 (7-14) with a home run, three doubles, a triple and six runs batted in, while also scoring six runs. In a 10-0 win against Staten Island, Goggin was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Against Felician, he was 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season in the first game of a doubleheader, before following with a 2-for-2 showing in the second game, that featured two doubles, two RBI and a stolen base. Against Post, Goggin was 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. He also boasted a .588 on-base percentage and 1.071 slugging percentage for the week.
Nick Guarino, Southern Conn. St. (Sr, LHP - East Haven, Conn.)
Guarino was in midseason form in a 10-0 win against Staten Island. Guarino held the Dolphins scoreless while scattering three hits over eight innings to pick up his first win and shutout of the season. He was dominant after shaking off a two-hit first inning to allow just one baserunner over the next six innings. Guarino retired 10 straight batters before giving up a leadoff hit in the sixth and then settled in to retire the next nine batters he faced.
Mike LaRocca, Southern N.H. (Jr., 1B - Vero Beach, Fla.)
LaRocca went 7-for-21 (.333) with three home runs, 13 RBI and five runs scored, while slugging .762 en route to an 1.126 OPS, as the Penmen went 4-1 during their trip to Myrtle Beach. LaRocca was 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's 10-2 victory over Queens (N.Y.). His most clutch performance came in Sunday's 8-4, come-from-behind win against St. Thomas Aquinas in which he was 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and a run scored, as he tied the game with a two-run single in the seventh and then swatted a three-run homer in the ninth to help seal the victory.
