Four NE10 Teams Selected for NCAA Division II Baseball Championship

SNHU to Host East Regional #1.


MANSFIELD, Mass. - Four baseball programs from the Northeast-10 Conference qualified for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship on Sunday night, including Southern New Hampshire - the top seed and host of East Regional #1, which begins on Thursday.

SNHU, the NE10 regular season champion in the Northeast Division, is ranked No. 10 in the latest NCBWA national rankings. Prior to losing to Bentley in the NE10 Baseball Championship quarterfinals, the Penmen had won 26 of 28 games and amassed a 23-1 record against conference opponents. SNHU's Nick Schwartz was voted Player of the Year and Jeffrey Praml was selected Pitcher of the Year in the Northeast Division, while Scott Loiseau earned the Bob Bellizzi Coach of the Year award. 

Franklin Pierce (34-17), the NE10 finalist, is ranked as the No. 4 seed and Pace (33-19), the NE10 champion, earned the league's automatic qualifier spot and is the No. 5 seed. Both teams will travel to Manchester to compete in East Regional #1 with SNHU (37-11). It will be a rematch of the NE10 Baseball Championship games when Franklin Pierce plays Pace on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Penmen Field. SNHU will play the loser of that game at approximately 2 p.m. 

Le Moyne (31-19) is the sole NE10 representative in East Regional #2, which will be hosted by No. 2-seeded Goldey-Beacom. The Dolphins, the NE10 regular season champions in the Southwest Division, are the No. 3 seed and will open against No. 6-seeded Queens (NY) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. 

The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected 56 teams that will participate in the 2023 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The championship provides for eight regional sites hosting three teams and eight regional sites hosting four teams for a total of 16 regional sites. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 18-21. Regional winners will advance to the best-of-three Super Regional on May 26-27. Super Regional winners will advance to the double-elimination finals from June 3-10 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The finals will be hosted by the University of Mount Olive and Cary.

East Regional #1
Game 1: No. 4 Franklin Pierce vs. No. 5 Pace - 11:00 A.M.
Game 2: No. 1 SNHU vs. Game 1 Loser - 2:00 P.M.

East Regional #2
Game 1: No. 3 Le Moyne vs. No. 6 Queens (NY) - 3:30 P.M.
