NE10 Player of the Week
Steve Rizzuto, Bentley
Senior | Third Base | Belmont, Mass.
During a 5-0 week for the Falcons, Rizzuto slashed .524/./542/.952 while driving in 13 runs and scoring eight times. His 13 hits included four doubles, a triple and a home run, and he also handled 13 chances in the infield without an error. Rizzuto was 4-for-5 with five RBI, four runs scored, two doubles, a home run and nine total bases in an 18-5 win at Saint Anselm and was 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, a double and a triple in a 15-3 win at Saint Rose. His week finished with two hits and three RBI in a 12-8 victory at Saint Anselm.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Ethan Teixeira, American International
Graduate | Pitcher | Millbury, Mass.
Teixeira had one of the most dominant showings of his career against Assumption, twirling 8.0 scoreless frames of two-hit ball, fanning nine in a 4-2 win. His outing included the 100th strikeout of his career, a called strike three to end the seventh.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Nick Paharik, Assumption
Freshman | Infield | Hopkinton, Mass.
In three at-bats at AIC, Paharik made it count. The freshman infielder hit two home runs and had a double as he drove in six runs in Assumption's 23-2 win in game two of a doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Anthony Cipri, Adelphi (Sr., IF - Middle Village, N.Y.)
In a week where the Panthers hit .368 as a team, Cipri produced a stunning .591 average with two homers and five RBI. He led the team with 13 hits in 22 at-bats and seven runs scored, with a 1.000 slugging and .609 on-base percentage. Cipri collected multiple hits in four of the team's five games last week and homered twice in the last game of a four-game series on Friday at Le Moyne.
John Rizzo, Adelphi (So., P - Islip Terrace, N.Y.)
In making the series-opening start at Le Moyne, Rizzo fired 6.1 quality innings with eight strikeouts. His two runs allowed were the second-fewest runs allowed in a start this season.
Marc Cedrone, Bentley (So., P - Walpole, Mass.)
In a 15-2 win at Saint Rose, Cedrone pitched seven innings and allowed three singles and a run. He walked two and struck out eight.
Nick Nevins, Le Moyne (Sr., SS - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
Nevins slashed .529/.529/.941 with two home runs, seven runs batted in and six runs scored in Le Moyne's 3-1 week, including at least two hits in each game. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored in an 8-6 win over Adelphi in the series opener. He then went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 7-5 victory in the nightcap. He opened the second day of the series by going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-8 setback. He closed out the series by going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in a 7-6 victory.
Andrew Bianco, New Haven (Sr., 1B/OF - Kings Park, N.Y.)
Bianco went 7-for-18 (.389) with two home runs, four RBI, seven runs scored and three stolen bases in a 4-1 week for the Chargers. He had a four-hit game in a 13-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
Mason Baronian, Pace (So., SS - River Vale, N.J.)
Baronian played in four games this week, finishing with a .588 batting average. He went 10-for-17 at the plate, picking up three doubles and three RBI, scoring two runs and finishing with a slugging percentage of .765. He had three hits on three separate occasions this week, and had at least one hit in every game.
Patrick Gleason, Pace (Sr., P - Valhalla, N.Y.)
Gleason made one start on the week, picking up the victory. In a 4-2 win against NE10 opponent Southern Connecticut, he pitched eight innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out 10 batters.
Mike Borrelli, Saint Anselm (Sr., C - Salisbury, Mass.)
Borrelli slashed .400/.471/.733 in the four-game series with Bentley. The senior matched a team-high with six hits, two of which were doubles and one was a home run. Borrelli led Saint Anselm in the series with seven runs batted in and with a total of 11 bases. Borrelli also scored a pair of runs in the series.
Mike LaRocca, Southern N.H. (Jr., 1B - Vero Beach, Fla.)
LaRocca hit .467 (7-15) with three home runs, 11 RBI and six runs scored, during a 3-1 week for the Penmen, while slashing .529/1.200/1.729. La Rocca was 3-for-6 with two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored in Thursday's doubleheader sweep of Franklin Pierce. He then went 4-for-6 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored in a 13-11 win over the Ravens in game two Friday.
Josh Roberge, Southern N.H. (Gr., P - Chelmsford, Mass.)
Roberge fired eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits, while striking out five and walking three, as SNHU clinched the Northeast Division with a 13-0 victory against Franklin Pierce in game one Thursday.
