SNHU Wins Three Major Awards to Highlight NE10 Baseball All-Conference Honors

SNHU with a League-High 10 All-Conference Selections.


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire's Nick Schwartz and New Haven's Andrew Bianco have been selected as the Northeast and Southwest Division Players of the Year, respectively, as the Northeast-10 Conference announced its All-Conference baseball honors on Wednesday afternoon.

SNHU scored a league-high three major award winners, including Jeffrey Praml as Northeast Division Pitcher of the Year and Scott Loiseau as the Bob Bellizzi Coach of the Year. The Penmen, the Northeast Division regular season champions, also led the NE10 with 10 All-Conference selections.  

Rounding out the Northeast Division's major awards were American International's Brendan Edvardsen as Rookie Hitter of the Year and Franklin Pierce's Drew DeLucia as Rookie Pitcher of the Year. AIC was second behind only SNHU (five) with three selections to the All-Conference First Team.

In addition to Bianco, New Haven tallied another major award in the Southwest Division with Tyler Sausville winning Rookie Pitcher of the Year. Pace's Patrick Gleason was voted the Pitcher of the Year and Le Moyne's Adam Sullivan won Rookie Hitter of the Year. New Haven racked-up seven All-Conference selections, second-most overall to only SNHU.

Schwartz had a dynamic season for the Penmen, as he led all NE10 players in batting average (.411), hits (69), doubles (19) and RBI (62). He also ranked second in runs scored (56), tied for fourth in home runs (11) and was fourth in on-base percentage (.493). Schwartz, who recorded 22 multi-hit games this season, led SNHU to its sixth-straight Northeast Division title with a remarkable 23-1 record in league play. Schwartz was also selected to the All-Conference First Team as catcher.

Bianco earned the Southwest Division's top honor after hitting .328 this season for New Haven, while tallying 10 home runs, 40 RBI, 57 hits and 47 runs scored in 43 games played. He had 15 multi-hit games this season for the Chargers. Bianco becomes the first New Haven player in program history to earn NE10 Player of the Year accolades. He was selected to first base on the All-Conference Second Team.

Praml is the second SNHU player in three seasons (Nick Artymowicz in 2021) to earn NE10 Pitcher of the Year honors, after another standout year for the Penmen. Among NE10 pitchers, he is tied for first in wins (9), second in innings pitched (74.0), third in ERA (2.43) and sixth in strikeouts (63) with two complete games this season. Praml was an All-Conference First Team selection as a starting pitcher.

Gleason had a strong year for Pace, leading the Setters to the Southwest Division's No. 3 seed in the NE10 Baseball Championship. He ranked second in the league in ERA (2.08), tied for fourth in wins (7), seventh in innings pitched (65.0) and tied for eighth in strikeouts (59). Gleason is the first Pace player to ever win NE10 Pitcher of the Year. He was an All-Conference First Team selection as a starting pitcher.

AIC's Edvardsen, a First Team selection as an outfielder, hit .396 at the plate – third-best among NE10 players – while ranking in the top 10 in hits (59) and RBI (43) to earn Northeast Division Rookie Hitter of the Year. Le Moyne's Sullivan, a First Team selection as a utility player in addition to Southwest Division Rookie Hitter of the Year, hit .330 in 32 games for the Dolphins. He recorded 32 hits – averaging one per game – along with five home runs, seven doubles, 27 runs scored and 30 RBI. Sullivan helped lead Le Moyne to a Southwest Division title.

Franklin Pierce's DeLucia, the Northeast Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year, recorded over 34 innings in 13 appearances on the mound for the Ravens this season. He earned a 2-2 record and tallied 44 strikeouts – which averaged out to 11.42 strikeouts per nine innings. New Haven's Sausville, the Southwest Division Rookie Pitcher of the Year and Third Team selection as a starter, was 5-3 in 12 appearances for the Chargers. He posted a 3.33 ERA in 48.2 innings of work with 52 strikeouts, while allowing just 18 earned runs.

For the third-straight season and sixth-time overall, SNHU's Loiseau was chosen by his peers as the Bob Bellizzi Coach of the Year after leading the Penmen to their sixth-straight Northeast Division title and the top seed in the NE10 Baseball Championship. The Penmen (37-10, 23-1 NE10) are ranked No. 11 in the latest NCBWA Division II Poll and first in the latest NCAA Division II East Regional Rankings.
