NE10 Player of the Week
Jackson Haker, American International
Sophomore | Third Base | Uxbridge, Mass.
Haker had an incredible series in the Yellow Jackets' three-game sweep of Bridgeport, going 8-for-11 at the dish with two home runs, five extra base hits, 10 runs batted in, and four runs scored. He boasted a slash line of .727/.692/1.545 on the week and his seventh-inning home run in the second game of the series tied the contest.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Josh Roberge, Southern New Hampshire
Graduate Student | Pitcher | Chelmsford, Mass.
Roberge fired a complete-game, one-hit shutout in a 6-0 game-two victory at Assumption on Saturday. Roberge struck out a season-high 12 and walked just two over seven innings.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Pat Heber, Bentley
Freshman | Pitcher | Garden City, N.Y.
Heber pitched a three-hit shutout against No. 22 Franklin Pierce, helping Bentley to a 4-0 win. The lefty walked two, struck out eight, limited the Ravens to a .125 batting average and only allowed two base runners to reach second base. Heber is 3-1 with 40 strikeouts in 33 innings.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Anthony Cipri, Adelphi (Sr., IF - Middle Village, N.Y.)
Led the Panthers in the weekend series against Pace with a .444 batting average. He produced three consecutive multi-hit games with three runs scored. Cipri reached safely at a .500 clip and stole a base.
Jay Chiappetta, American Int'l (Gr., LHP - Trumbull, Conn.)
Chiappetta was dominant on the bump in the third game of AIC's series with Bridgeport. He tossed seven innings, allowing just an unearned run, scattering four hits and fanning five while not allowing a walk to close out the sweep in style.
Ian Battipaglia, Franklin Pierce (Jr., INF - Cheshire, Conn.)
As No. 22 Franklin Pierce went 3-3 against in-conference opponents this past week, Battipaglia kept the bat going from start to finish with 11 total hits, hauling in four RBI along the way. While on base, Battipaglia also successfully stole extras four times, and was walked a grand total of five times. Through the six games played, the Raven junior finished with a .524 batting average, a .593 on-base percentage and a .619 slugging percentage. Defensively, the Raven infielder contribtued 7 putouts with 11 assists, completing the week with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Robert Taylor, New Haven (Sr., OF - Wolcott, Conn.)
In a pair of non-conference wins last week, Taylor hit .667 to lead all Chargers at the plate, scattering four hits among six at bats and eight total plate appearances, adding a pair of walks as well. The center fielder finished with one extra base hit, a double, among his four hits and he drove in two runs while also stealing five bases in five attempts for a perfect week on the base paths.
Dan Brown, Pace (Jr., RHP - East Northport, N.Y.)
Brown pitched in one game over the weekend. Brown went 7.2 innings in scoreless relief, entering in the sixth inning and giving up no runs on three hits while striking out eight batters. He got the win as Pace beat Adelphi in 13 innings.
Mike Borrelli, Saint Anselm (Sr., C - Salisbury, Mass.)
Borrelli led the Hawks with eight hits in 14 at-bats, good for a .571 batting average in the four-game series with Saint Michael's. Borrelli recorded one double, one triple, two home runs, and seven runs batted in while scoring five times in the series. Borrelli added a .600 obp and a 1.214 slugging percentage in the week.
John Luke Cianciolo, St. Michael's (Sr., RHP/DH - Guilford, Conn.)
Cianciolo posted a 0.75 ERA and a 1-1 record across two starts, including one complete game, last week. He yielded four runs - just one earned - on five hits in 12 innings with seven walks, 10 strikeouts and a .114 opposing batting average. In a 7-4 loss at Assumption on Monday, Cianciolo allowed three unearned runs on two hits in five frames with four walks and four strikeouts. During an 8-1 victory at Saint Anselm on Saturday, he limited the Hawks to one run on three hits during a seven-inning complete game, fanning six and walking three. Cianciolo DHed in the second game on Saturday, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Ulysses Luciano, St. Michael's (Sr., 2B/LF - Bronx, N.Y.)
Luciano slashed .571/.905/.625 during a 2-4 week, batting 12-for-21 with six runs, three RBI, four doubles, a home run and three walks. He was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk in both ends of a doubleheader at Assumption on Monday, adding a double in the nightcap. On Friday at Saint Anselm, Luciano went 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI, a double and a walk in the opener before adding a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI and a double in game two. On Saturday at Saint Anselm, he finished 4-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a double and a homer in game one and ended up 2-for-4 in the second contest.
Billy Sullivan, So. Connecticut (So., C/OF - Valley Cottage, N.Y.)
In a series sweep of Le Moyne in Syracuse, Sullivan slashed .529/.579/.588 while recording multiple hits in all four games against the Dolphins. Sullivan was 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in a 21-7 win before following with a 2-for-3 outing in Game 2 of the first doubleheader between the two teams. On the second day of the series, Sullivan was 2-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored in a 12-7 win before closing the series with a 2-for-4 day with a RBI. He also posted three stolen bases in the series. Sullivan currently owns streaks of 20-straight games reaching base safely and also a 10-game hitting streak.
Nick Schwartz, Southern N.H. (Jr., C/DH - Massapequa, N.Y.)
Schwartz went 5-for-8 (.625) with a home run, four RBI, four runs scored, double and a walk, while slashing .667/1.125/1.788, during a 2-0 week for the Penmen. Schwartz was a perfect 5-for-5 with the two extra-base hits, four RBI and three runs scored in a 31-1 victory against Assumption in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. He then walked and scored a run in game two's 6-0 win.
