Yellow Jackets Chosen as Near-Unanimous NE10 Favorite.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Reigning league champion American International has been selected as the favorite heading into the 2022 season, according to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Coaches' Poll on Friday morning.
It is the second-straight season that the Yellow Jackets have been picked first by NE10 head coaches, as they earned 143 points and 11 of 13 first-place votes. Head coach Matt Cribbin has led the program to its recent success, which includes three-consecutive trips to the NE10 Championship final (no championship in 2020 due to COVID-19).
Most recently, AIC defeated New Haven in five sets during the 2021 NE10 Volleyball Championship final, winning the program's second-ever conference title and its first since 1996. The Yellow Jackets recorded a remarkable 22-match winning streak last season – which helped them advance to the NCAA Division II East Region final.
New Haven, the 2021 NE10 finalist, finished second in the poll with 128 points and one first-place vote. Bentley placed third with 118 points and the final first-place tally. Saint Anselm (112 points) and Adelphi (95 points) rounded-out the top five teams.
