NE10 Player of the Week

Julia Calvacanti, Saint Rose
Sophomore | Middle Blocker | Vineyard, Utah

Cavalcanti recorded 50 kills (2.94 per set) on a .426 swing percentage, 12 blocks, and nine aces to help the Golden Knights go 3-1 across the week. Cavalcanti was especially effective in Saturday's victory over Georgian Court, recording 20 kills on a .526 strike rate.

NE10 Libero of the Week

Caroline Belmontez, Saint Anselm
Senior | Defensive Specialist | San Diego, Calif.

The senior co-captain averaged 4.43 digs per set in a 2-2 week for Saint Anselm, totaling 62 digs and 18 assists. Belmontez recorded a team-high in digs in all four matches and registered 22 digs in the five-set win over Shorter (Ga.). Belmontez added 16 digs for the Hawks defense in a loss to No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney. The senior became just the ninth Saint Anselm student-athlete to eclipse the 1,000 career digs mark.

NE10 Setter of the Week

Naomi Eckert, American International
Junior | Setter | Toa Baja, Puerto Rico

Eckert Rivera was a force to be reckoned with at the NSU Shark Invitational. She led AIC to a 3-0 weekend, including a win over the host No. 23 Sharks with a total of 98 assists (9.80 assists/set), 30 digs, and four blocks plus three kills in three matches, earning MVP honors for the tournament.

NE10 Rookie of the Week

Perla Rosa, American International
Freshman | Defensive Specialist | Weston, Fla.

Rosa had a great showing defensively for the Yellow Jackets at the NSU Shark Invite, racking up a team-best 31 digs as AIC swept the weekend, including a win over the host No. 23 Sharks. She also added 10 assists.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Aleksandra Ivanovic, American Int'l (So., MB - Belgrade, Serbia)
Ivanovic continued her season-opening tear at the NSU Shark Invitational on September 2-3. In three matches, she racked up 25 kills against just five errors, swinging .465 and adding seven blocks. Among the wins was a victory against the host Sharks, ranked No. 23 nationally. Ivanovic was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.

Ellie Wheeler, Bentley (Jr., OH/RS - Olathe, Kan.)
During the UIndy Invitational, Wheeler averaged 2.82 kills, 1.35 digs and 3.06 points while hitting .215. She had double-figure kills in all four matches with highs of 15 kills and a .325 hitting percentage against Indianapolis. She also had 13 kills and two aces in a 3-1 win over Ohio Dominican. 

Morgan Schmutzler, Franklin Pierce (Jr., L - Lockport, Ill.)
In two matches played over the past week, Schmutzler combined for 38 total digs including a 23-dig performance versus Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon. In the same match, the junior Libero also added a single service ace.

Lauren Casey, Saint Anselm (Sr., S - Louisville, Kent.)
Casey led the Hawks with 51 kills in the 2-2 week, averaging 3.92 kills per set and a .210 hitting percentage. The senior added three service aces and 36 digs, averaging 2.77 digs per set. Casey posted a 24 kill-19 dig double-double in the five set win over Shorter (Ga.), helping the Hawks to their first 7-0 start in program history. 

Michelle Henwood, Saint Anselm (Sr., S - Guaynabo, Puerto Rico)
Henwood posted 122 assists and 44 digs in a 2-2 weekend for the Hawks. The senior co-captain posted 46 helpers in a five-set win over Shorter (Ga.) and went for 25 assists and 16 digs in a loss to No. 9 nationally Nebraska-Kearney. Henwood also moved into fourth all-time in the program's history in career assists. 

Alexandra Báez Rentas, Saint Michael's (So., S - San Juan, Puerto Rico)
Báez Rentas averaged 7.7 assists and 3.3 digs per set during a trio of matches over the weekend. In a 3-0 win at SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, she totaled 32 assists, 14 digs, two kills and an ace before turning in 20 helpers, seven digs and two kills during a 3-0 loss against Coast Guard later in the day. On Saturday, Báez Rentas collected 32 assists, 16 digs, five kills and two blocks in a 3-2 loss to Plymouth State. 

Valeria Jorge, Saint Rose (Jr., S - Cayey, Puerto Rico)
Jorge paced the Golden Knight attack with 9.18 assists per set (156 total) in a 3-1 week for Saint Rose. Jorge posted back-to-back matches with 40+ helpers at the Georgian Court Invitational, including a 45-assist performance in the Golden Knights win on Friday over the host Lions. 

Ana Pimenta, Southern N.H. (Jr., OH - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
Pimenta totaled 44 kills (2.75 k/s), an ace, 44 digs (2.75 d/s) and seven blocks (0.44 b/s) during a 2-2 week for the Penmen. Pimenta recorded a pair of double-doubles in Saturday's double-dip at the Flagler Saints Classic. Pimenta posted 15 kills, 24 digs, an ace and three blocks in a 3-2 loss to Flagler and added 14 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 victory against Emmanuel (Ga.). 

Deanne Wilson, Southern N.H. (So., DS - Buffalo, N.Y.)
Wilson totaled 59 digs (3.69 d/s), 12 assists (0.75 a/s) and three aces (0.19 sa/s) during a 2-2 week for the Penmen. Wilson collected 18 digs and an ace in Friday's 3-1 win against Bemidji State. She also tallied 18 digs in Saturday's 3-1 victory against Emmanuel (Ga.).
