NE10 Player of the Week
Ashley Cangiano, Frankin Pierce
Sophomore | OF/C | North Attleboro, Mass.
Cangiano posted a line of .714/.727/1.143 in leading Franklin Pierce to a 3-0 start this year. She went 5-for-7 overall with five runs, four RBI, three steals and two walks for the Ravens.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Laura Bennett, Le Moyne
Sophomore | Pitcher | Corning, N.Y.
Bennett struck out 10 batters and scattered just five hits in a 6-1 victory over Felician on Sunday.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Courtney Wengryn, Adelphi
R-Fr. | 3B | Hillsborough, N.J.
Wengryn went 4-for-6 in Adelphi's doubleheader at Georgian Court. She had three doubles with one run and one RBI to go along with a 1.167 slugging percentage and .667 batting average on the week.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Jordan Krause, Bentley (Fr., OF - San Pedro, Calif.)
During two games Sunday, Krause had five hits in eight at bats out of the leadoff position. She scored twice, had one RBI and was 4-for-4 in a 7-1 win over Slippery Rock. In her first eight career games, she's batting .483 with an .862 slugging percentage.
Elise Pereira, Bentley (Sr., P - Plainville, Mass.)
Pereira pitched a complete game three-hitter in a 7-1 win over Slippery Rock. She walked one and struck out seven in the victory.
Abbey Primavera, Franklin Pierce (Sr., P - Spring Hill, Fla.)
Primavera had a strong start to the year, going 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA and 10 strikeouts for Franklin Pierce. She allowed ten hits and just one walk.
Isabelle Boudreau, Le Moyne (Jr, OF - Memramcook, New Brunswick)
She slashed .500/.571/.500 with two runs scored in Le Moyne's 1-1 week. She had three hits, scored two runs and stole a base in a 6-1 win over Felician on Sunday.
Haley Waghorn, St. Michael's (Jr., SS/3B - Saratoga Springs, N.Y.)
Junior Haley Waghorn (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) hit .529 (9-for-17) with a .588 slugging percentage and .579 on-base percentage during five games last week, scoring five runs and driving in three more. She added one double, a walk and a hit by pitch while striking out just once in 19 plate appearances. Waghorn was 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI and a double in a 16-1 win over Felician on Sunday, 3-for-4 with an RBI during a 7-6 loss to Salem later in the day, and 2-for-4 with three runs and a hit by pitch in an eight-inning, 11-10 setback against Dominican to finish the evening.
Madison Chandler, Saint Rose (So, IF/OF - Saratoga Springs, N.Y.)
In the final six games of Saint Rose Florida trip, Chandler swung .364 and knocked in three RBI to help the Golden Knights to a 3-3 week.
Chloe Griffin, Southern N.H. (Sr, P/OF - Scarborough, Maine)
Chloe Griffin didn't earn a win in the circle, but allowed just two runs in 15 innings. She took a shutout to the bottom of the seventh inning against #8 Augustana, but fell 3-2 after some defensive miscues. Griffin also went the distance in an eight-inning loss to West Chester that concluded a Florida swing on Friday. She also hit .280 on the trip.
Skylar Brandemarte, Stonehill (Fr, P - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
After a 2-2 week (2-1 in her starts), Brandemarte had a solid week for Stonehill including her best start coming in a 9-0 shutout of Bemidji State. In that outing, she recorded a career-high nine strikeouts and allowed only five hits. During her other win in a close 3-2 game against Mercyhurst, she tossed another complete game going seven innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits. In her four appearances, Brademarte averaged 5.62 strikeouts, six hits, and an ERA of 3.75.
Courtney Brochu, Stonehill (Jr, MINF - Scarborough, Maine)
Brochu had yet another strong week for the Skyhawks including three games where she hit above .500. Her best game was against Bemidji State where she was responsible for four of Stonehill's nine runs and also recorded a double too. Also in that game, Brochu posted a 1.000 slugging percentage along with a .667 on-base percentage. Throughout the week, Brochu had at least one hit in three of the five games she played in. She also had an on-base percentage of over .300 in four out of the five games.
