NE10 Player of the Week
Ashley Cangiano, Franklin Pierce
Sophomore | Outfield | North Attleboro, Mass.
Cangiano finished the season on a tear, achieving a .619 batting average with a total of 13 hits, while plating 14 RBI in the process. In their final matchup with AIC, Cangiano set a personal single-game record, as well as a new team record with 7 RBI in just the opening game, finishing the day with eight total. The sophomore outfielder also finished the week with a .810 SLG percentage, and a .609 OBP.

NE10 Rookie of the Week
Jenna Devens, St. Michael's
Freshman | INF | Parsippany, N.J.
Freshman Jenna Devens batted .455 with a 1.030 slugging percentage and .486 on-base percentage during a 10-game week, hitting 15-for-33 with seven runs, four doubles, five home runs and 11 RBI. Across four games in the circle, she posted a complete game and 14 strikeouts in 12.1 innings. On Monday, Devens walked in game one against Southern New Hampshire before going 3-for-4 with a run, four RBI and a home run in the second contest. On Tuesday against regionally-ranked New Haven, she was 1-for-2 with a solo homer and a walk in the opener and 1-for-4 with a double in game two. During the completion of a suspended game at Bentley on Thursday, Devens was 2-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a double and the go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning. In the nightcap, she was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double. On Friday at AIC, Devens was 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and a homer in game one before hitting another solo homer in game two. On Saturday at Assumption, she finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double in the opener and 1-for-3 in the season finale.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Abigail Wells, American International (So., OF - Windsor, Mass.)
Wells finished the season on a tear for the Yellow Jackets. She hit .429 over the final 10 games (12/28) including a double, triple, and home run, driving in 12 and scoring six times while also swiping three bases.
Samantha Hardwick, Assumption (So., P/OF - Albany, N.Y.)
Samantha Hardwick helped Assumption qualify for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament with two strong appearances in the circle. After the Greyhounds dropped a 19-7 decision to Franklin Pierce in the opener of a twinbill, Hardwick threw a complete game in a 6-2 nightcap win over the Ravens in which she allowed just two runs to score while striking out two and walking three. Hardwick will enter the postseason having won her last three decisions.
Summer Sheerin, Assumption (So., INF - Bridgewater, Mass.)
Summer Sheerin helped Assumption qualify for the Northeast-10 Tournament by batting .500 this past week. Five of her 10 hits were for extra bases, which included four doubles and a home run, and she also finished with six runs batted in along with eight runs scored. Sheerin, who recorded at least one hit in all six games, most notably went a combined 6-for-10 with two doubles, a home run, four runs batted in, and six runs scored during the Greyhounds' three-game winning streak to conclude the weekend. She also had a combined .524 on-base percentage and slugged at an .850 clip over the six games.
Dahlia Fink, Bentley (Fr., P - Sherman Oaks, Calif.)
Fink was 1-0 with a 1.02 ERA during three appearances in the center circle. She allowed only 11 hits in 13.2 innings and struck out 15. She fanned eight, matching her career-best, in four innings against St. Michael's.
Katie Welch, Bentley (Fr., DP - Monroe, Conn.)
In five games during a 4-2 week, Welch put together a .500/.533/.857 slash line as she was 7 of 14 with four RBI, two runs scored, two doubles and her first career home run. She had her first three career two-hit games, achieving the feat against St. Michael's and in both games against Stonehill.
Alyssa Dybacz, Le Moyne (Fr, UTL - Baldwinsville, N.Y.)
She slashed .421/.421/.579 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Le Moyne's 3-3 week. She had two hits, including a homer, in a 2-1 eight-inning win over Bentley on Tuesday. She went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in a 4-0 victory over Pace on Saturday.
Laura Bennett, Le Moyne (So, P - Corning, N.Y.)
She went 2-2 with a 1.20 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 23.1 innings in Le Moyne's 3-3 week. She struck out eight over eight innings in a 2-1 win over Bentley on Tuesday. She tallied nine strikeouts in a 1-0 victory over Pace on Saturday.
Gisselle Garcia, Pace (Fr., P - Lemon Grove, Calif.)
Garcia closed out the regular season with another commanding stretch last week. The freshman posted a 2.14 ERA across five appearances and 19.2 innings pitched. She currently ranks second in the NE10 in strikeouts this season (194), while sitting third in ERA (1.39).
Gwen Pederson, Pace (Jr., OF - Sylmar, Calif.)
Pederson led the Setters' offense during their busy stretch last week. The California native batted a team-best .357 across eight games. She began the week by going 4-for-8 with five RBIs and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Assumption.
Haile Hicks, Saint Anselm (So, P - Jefferson, N.H.)
Hicks did not allow a run, earned or unearned, this past week for Saint Anselm, racking up back-to-back victories in the circle for the Hawks while striking out seven batters. She finished the regular season with 20 victories, ranking second in the NE10 ? her 10 shutouts are the second-most in team history for a single season. Hicks is now one of just three pitchers (Morgan Perry '21, Lisa Petell '99) to record at least 20 wins in a single season for the Hawks.
Jacqueline Dumont, Southern Connecticut (Sr., C - Nashua, N.H.)
Dumont had a big weekend that helped power the Owls to a berth in the postseason. She hit .500 (8-for-16) with a .625 slugging percentage that included two home runs and one double with seven RBIs and four runs scored. She hit a three-run home run against Sant Anselm that proved to be the difference maker in a key conference win.
Skylar Brandemarte, Stonehill (Fr, P - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
Brandemarte had a solid week for the Skyhawks as the freshman posted 20 strikeouts (more than five in each of her appearances), and two out of three appearances were complete games which brings her total to 19 (third in NE10). Her best start came against Bentley where she finished with eight strikeouts to bring her season total to 102. Brandemarte is now just the fifth pitcher in program history to have 100 strikeouts in a season and the first since 2019. Brandemarte is also just one of two freshmen in Stonehill's softball history to post 100 strikeouts in a season.
Courtney Brochu, Stonehill (Jr, MINF - Scarborough, Maine)
Brochu had a solid week for the Skyhawks hitting .500 (7-14), slugged .500, and posted an on-base percentage of .500 as well. In three of her four games, Brochu recorded multiple hits including a three-hit performance against Bentley. Brochu also collected an RBI in two of her four games With her seven hits in the span of four games, she finished the year leading the team in hits (38).
