Adelphi Softball Earns Top Spot in East Region; Four NE10 Teams Qualify for NCAA Championship

Adelphi, Saint Anselm, Franklin Pierce and Pace Earn NCAA Postseason Bids.


MANSFIELD, Mass. - Four softball programs from the Northeast-10 Conference qualified for the NCAA Division II Softball Championship on Monday morning, as announced by the NCAA. Adelphi, the NE10 champion, highlights the group of selections as the No. 1 seed in the East Region. 

Adelphi (41-11) played in the longest Championship game in NE10 history on Sunday, outlasting Saint Anselm - 2-0 - in 11 innings after a walk-off home run by Ashley Lombardi. The Panthers, who qualify for the NCAA Championship for the 10th-straight season, were also NE10 regular season champions and served as host of the league's Championship Weekend. Adelphi will host East Region #1, which consists of two other NE10 teams - No. 5 Saint Anselm (28-15) and No. 8 Pace (27-19). Franklin Pierce (23-10), the No. 6 seed overall in the region, will play in East Region #2 - hosted by top seed Georgian Court. 

Saint Anselm makes its fourth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA East Regional, while Pace qualifies for the first time since 2018. Franklin Pierce earns its first NCAA berth in program history. 

The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected 64 teams to participate in the Championship. Four teams will compete at each of the 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments, held May 12-14. Winners will advance to their super regionals, slated for May 19-20. The finals will be held from May 26-31 at the Assembly Athletic Complex in Denver and will be hosted by Metropolitan State University of Denver.
