NE10 Player of the Week
Mackenzie Bruggeman, Assumption
Freshman | Infield | Trumbull, Conn.
Mackenzie Bruggeman had a breakout performance in the team's doubleheader at AIC over the weekend. She most notably went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double to go along with three runs scored in the Greyhounds' convincing 14-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets in five innings. She also drove in two of the team's three runs in the nightcap and finished the twinbill batting .667 with four runs batted in while slugging at a 1.833 clip.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Lindsey Hibbs, Adelphi
Sophomore | Pitcher | Brampton, Ontario
Lindsey Hibbs went 3-0 last week with a 0.00 ERA. She pitched a total of 15 innings and dished out 28 strikeouts, with just one walk. She allowed just five total his and one unearned run in her three appearances. Her most dominant performance came against Stonehill as she went 6.0 IP with 12 strikeouts and just one walk while allowing two singles.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Gisselle Garcia, Pace
Freshman | Pitcher | Lemon Grove, Calif.
Garcia continued her sensational rookie campaign with another three complete-game wins last week. The right-hander allowed just three runs across 23.0 innings of work, while totaling 26 strikeouts, including a one-hit, 1-0 shutout of Queens. She also went 9.0 innings in a 2-1 vicyory over Mercy while striking out seven and allowing just four hits. Garcia has now yielded two or fewer runs in eight of her nine outings this season. The California native currently holds a 1.78 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 67.0 innings.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Alexa Sacripante, Adelphi (So., C - Bay Shore, N.Y.)
Alexa Sacripante hit .667 last. She went a team-best 8-for-12 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and one run scored. She slugged an impressive 1.000 and had a .667 on-base percentage. Sacripante went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored during Adelphi's 3-1 win over Stonehill on Friday.
Bella Williams, Franklin Pierce (Fr., OF - Phoenix, Ariz.)
In a double-header matchup on Sunday afternoon, Bella Williams made nine appearances at the plate, finishing the day with 5 total hits, including her first collegiate home run. In addition to her first home run, the freshman outfielder collected 4 total RBI's, and contributed to the Ravens walk off victory in the second game with 2 stolen bases in the effort, eventually scoring the winning run off one of them.
Jovanna Hillman, New Haven (Sr., C/INF - Seymour, Conn.)
In the only two games of the week for New Haven last week, Hillman finished with a .500 batting average with one hit in each of the two games, which came on four total at bats, while she also registered a pair of walks. Both of her hits went for extra bases, the first a home run in the opening game against Molloy, the second a double in game two. She also drove in three runs, including two in the second game of the doubleheader.
Brianna Shea, Pace (Fr., INF - Oceanside, Calif.)
Shea strung together a monster offensive week for a Pace team that went 5-1. The rookie batted .429 with six RBIs and three runs scored. Five of Shea's six hits went for extra bases as she finished the stretch with a .929 slugging percentage.
Haile Hicks, Saint Anselm (So, P - Jefferson, N.H.)
Sophomore Haile Hicks fanned a career-high nine batters on Saturday at Le Moyne, allowing just one earned run for Saint Anselm to spark a doubleheader sweep of the Dolphins. She now has 10 wins in the circle for Saint Anselm, ranking second in the NE10.
Jackie Cherry, St. Michael's (Jr., RHP - Franklin, Mass.)
Junior Jackie Cherry (Franklin, Mass.) went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA over 11.2 innings in a sweep of Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. In an opening 2-1 win, she scattered nine hits during a complete game with one walk and one strikeout. During the nightcap, a 7-6 victory, Cherry worked 4.2 innings in relief, allowing one run on five hits.
Jacqueline Dumont, Southern Conn. St. (Sr, C - Nashua, N.H.)
Dumont slashed a line of .500/.520/.792 through six games played for the Owls. She had four multi-hit games that included two home runs and one double in addition to recording eight RBI.
Leine McKechnie, Southern N.H. (So, P - Passadumkeag, Maine)
Leine McKechnie went 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA as the Penmen won all four games they played last week. She allowed just two earned runs in 15 innings of work. McKechnie earned the wins in both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Saint Rose, starting the first game and finishing up the second game. She walked only one batter in her three appearances while striking out 10.
Alexandra Hammond, Stonehill (So, C/Inf - Windham, Maine)
Hammond had a strong week for the Skyhawks hitting .462 (6-13), three RBIs, and also slugged her third home run of the season. She also posted an on-base percentage of .462 and had a slugging percentage of .769. Hammond had her best game against Le Moyne on March 31 in which she helped the Skyhawks earn a 6-2 victory in which she went 2-3 along with a home run.
