NE10 Offensive Player/Rookie of the Week
Jermaine Corbett, Stonehill
Sophomore | Running Back | Long Branch, N.J.
Corbett led the Skyhawks to a 31-22 triumph over Saint Anselm to retain the "Ol' Bronze Hawk Trophy". In his first career start, Corbett rushed the ball a career-high 31 times for a career-best 254 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 8.2 yards per carry and also chipped in an 11-yard reception. His four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter responded to the Hawk's opening field goal to take a 7-3 lead. His 19-yard touchdown put the Skyhawk in front for good and sparked a 21-point third quarter to take control after trailing at the half (15-10).
NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Nasier Givens, Pace
Senior | Defensive Line | Newark, N.Y.
Givens served an instrumental role during the Setters' 39-31 overtime win over Franklin Pierce. The New Jersey native racked up 10 tackles, in addition to recording a pair of crucial sacks. Givens currently leads the Setters with eight tackles-for-loss and 4.5 sacks this season.
NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week
Rady Rojas-Potilla, American International
Sophomore | Defensive Back/Punter | Cienfuegos, Cuba
Rojas-Potilla had a great punting performance for the Yellow Jackets this week against New Haven. In six punts, he totaled 297 yards for an average of 49.5 yards per punt. The most impressive punt of the day was a 72-yarder that pinned the Chargers deep in their own territory. Two of his six punts were inside the 20.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Jaysen Thompson, American Int'l (So., LB - South Hackensack, N.J.)
Thompson continues to be a key contributor to the AIC defense. The NE10's tackles leader recorded 15 tackles this week including six solo in a loss to New Haven. Additionally he had a forced fumble and a half tackle for a loss.
Cole McCubrey, Bentley (Gr., LB - Boylston, Mass.)
McCubrey led Bentley in tackles with eight during the Falcons' 12th-straight win and also caught a one-yard TD pass in the 34-20 victory at Southern Connecticut.
Stephen Sturm, Bentley (Sr., QB - Collegeville, Pa.)
In a 34-20 win at Southern Connecticut for the 17th-ranked Falcons, Sturm threw four touchdown passes and ran for another while amassing 226 yards total offense. He completed 16 of 21 for 188 yards and a 204.72 quarterback rating, and also carried the ball for 10 times for 38 yards. The TD passes covered 35, 8, 1 and 18 yards, and he ran one in from the two. During the game, Sturm surpassed both 500 career completions and 50 career TD passes.
EJ Burgess, Franklin Pierce (Jr., RB - Pearland, Texas)
Burgess rushed 33 times for 191 yards (5.8 yards per carry) and a pair of touchdowns in Saturday's double-overtime loss at Pace. Ripped off a 77-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter.
Armani Mette, Franklin Pierce (So., DL - Randolph, Mass.)
Mette piled up a team-best 10 tackles (four solo), including a half-sack, and recovered a fumble as well, in the Ravens' double-overtime loss at Pace on Saturday.
Jake Conlan, New Haven (, RB - West Haven, Conn.)
Conlan, a running back for the Chargers, finished with a kick return of 25 yards and the most heads-up play of the afternoon recovering his own team's kick off following a TD in the fourth quarter, getting his offense the ball back at a key time to secure the victory and to remain unbeaten in the NE10. In the running game, Conlan finished with 24 yards on four attempts with a 15-yard touchdown scamper included.
Connor Degenhardt, New Haven (Gr, QB - Westford, Mass.)
Degenhardt finished with 352 total yards on offense, throwing for 315 and adding 37 rushing yards on seven attempts. In the air, he finished 19-of-30 with a touchdown and a game-high toss of 46 yards, while he also had a 38 yard pass to Dev Homes for the touchdown. On the ground, he averaged 5.3 yards per carry with a high of 19 yards.
Devonte Myles, New Haven (Sr, SAF - Yonkers, N.Y.)
Myles had his best outing of the season on Saturday at American International, racking up eight total tackles and added a fumble recovery that he returned six yards with that turnover coming with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Among his six tackles were two solo and six assisted.
Carlton Aiken, Pace (Sr., QB - Gibbstown, N.J.)
Aiken was named Pace's Homecoming MVP after leading the Setters to an overtime win over Franklin Pierce. The graduate quarterback racked up all five of Pace's touchdowns, including two scoring tosses in the overtime periods. All in all, he finished 22-of-42 from the pocket for 280 yards and four passing touchdowns, while also tallying a rushing score with 25 more yards on the ground.
Sam Athy, Stonehill (5th Year, DB - Holliston, Mass.)
Athy keyed the Skyhawks defense in Saturday's 31-22 win over Saint Anselm to retain the "Ol' Bronze Hawk" for the 17th-straight year with four tackles (three solo), an interception that he returned 17 yards and an additional pass breakup.
