Chargers and Falcons Will Meet for Second Time in Two Weeks.
MANSFIELD, Mass. - Comng off its first Northeast-10 Conference Championship since 2012, New Haven has been selected as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Division II Football Championship and will host the team it beat to earn the Conference's regular season title just two weeks ago - Bentley - at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium next Saturday at 1 p.m in First Round action.
New Haven (9-1, 8-0 NE10) finished one place above Bentley (9-1, 7-1 NE10) during the Selection Show on Sunday afternoon, earning its first home game during the NCAA postseason since 2018. The winner in the Chargers' and Falcons' game will advance to play top-seeded Kutztown on the following Saturday (Nov. 27).
Back on Nov. 6, New Haven beat Bentley, 31-14, at DellaCamera Stadium on Senior Day to clinch the NE10 title and snap Bentley's 13-game winning streak. In the process, the Chargers secured their first NE10 title in nearly a decade. On Saturday, the Falcons will look to avenge that loss, which prevented the program from successfully defending its 2019 NE10 title.
Similar to the first matchup, it will be a battle of good offense against good defense, as Bentley boasted the highest-scoring offense in the NE10 this season (32.0 points per game) and New Haven recorded the best scoring defense in the Conference (14.9 points allowed per game).
Joining New Haven as a host in the First Round is No. 2-seeded Shepherd and No. 3-seeded Notre Dame (OH), while No. 1-seeded Kutztown receives a bye and will play its first game in the second round of the NCAA Division II Football Championship.
