Assumption, Bentley & Adelphi Earn NCAA Bids
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following the program's first NE10 Title, Assumption was named the No. 2 seed in NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship, while Bentley and Adelphi were also selected and will be taking part in NCAA First Round games on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Assumption, who has won 20 straight games, took down Adelphi 3-2 in the NE10 Championship on Sunday to push its record to 20-1 this season. The Greyhounds earned the No. 2 seed in the field and secured a bye into the NCAA Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 19 in Millersville, Pa.
Shippensburg secured the top overall seed after capturing the PSAC Championship over West Chester to run its record to 18-0 this season.
Bentley is the No. 5 seed in the field and will travel to face East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Falcons are currently 14-5 this season after falling to New Haven in the NE10 Quarterfinals. They will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012 and 14th all-time.
Adelphi secured the final spot in the six-team field and will face off against No. 3 West Chester. The Golden Rams are 15-4 overall and the defending national champions. The Panthers, meanwhile, are 14-6 this year after reaching the NE10 Title game as the No.6 seed and are making their first NCAA appearance since 2014.
