NE10 Player of the Week
Ronnie Silva, Adelphi
Senior | Guard | Nashua, N.H.
In a perfect week for Adelphi, Silva averaged 22.7 points per game (15.5 ppg in league play) with 51.0 percent shooting (25-for-49) from the field. He posted a new career-high of 37 points in an 84-69 victory against Staten Island, with 6-of-13 shooting from three-point range. He was perfect at the free throw line through three games while also adding four rebounds and 11 assists, for 2.8 assists per game.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Zach Laput, Bentley
Sophomore | Guard | Beacon Falls, Conn.
In a pair of wins, Laput averaged 17 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal while making 13-of-19 overall (.632), four-of-five from three and all six of his free throws. After putting up 13 points against Assumption, he had a career-high 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 28 turnover-free minutes in a 111-72 win over Bridgeport. Against the Purple Knights, he was eight-of-10 overall with two triples. Laput leads the conference in three-point accuracy (.778) and is second in field goal percentage (.644).
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Matthew Kelly, Assumption (Gr., G - North Potomac, Md.)
Kelly averaged 22.5 points per game over a 1-1 week for the Hounds, scoring 28 with seven assists vs Bentley and 17 with five assists in a win over Saint Michael's.
Jordan Mello-Klein, Bentley (Gr., G - Sharon, Mass.)
During a 2-0 week, Mello-Klein produced 18 points, 8.5 rebounds, eight assists and two steals a game while shooting 48 percent overall and burying nine of 16 three-pointers. He came within a rebound of a triple-double in a 111-72 win over Bridgeport, finishing with 21 points, 13 assists and two steals. That followed a 13-point, eight-rebound performance in a 93-87 win over Assumption. Mello-Klein is second in the NE10 in assists per game, fourth in three-point percentage, sixth in rebounds and ninth in scoring.
Maxwell Zegarowski, Franklin Pierce (Jr., F - South Hamilton, Mass.)
In Franklin Pierce's only game last week, scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds, to go with one steal and one assist, in an 87-83 (OT) win over SNHU at home on Saturday.
Majur Majak, New Haven (Sr, C - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
Majak led the Chargers to a 2-0 week with wins over Southern Connecticut and Saint Rose, averaging 9.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg and blocked 12 total shots across the two games. The 7-1 center opened up the week scoring seven points and pulling down three boards against crosstown rival Southern Connecticut. He also added four blocks against the Owls. In the weekend road win over Saint Rose, Majak finished with 12 points and 10 boards for the double double, nearly missing out on a triple double as he swatted eight of the Golden Knights shots. Against Saint Rose, he finished the game shooting 71 percent (5-of-7), while closing out the week shooting 67 percent (7-of-11).
Bryan Powell, Pace (Jr., F - Middletown, N.Y.)
Powell posted one of the best performances of the early season during the Setters' win over Saint Rose last week. The junior forward poured in a career-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
Chris Paul, Saint Anselm (Sr, F - Highland Mills, N.Y.)
Scored 23 points against Bridgeport on Wednesday to help the Hawks score a season-high 90 points. He became just the 15th student-athlete to reach 1,500 career points in a Saint Anselm uniform. He then poured home 10 points with 12 rebounds and four assists against nationally-ranked Stonehill on Sunday.
Patrick Gardner, Saint Michael's (Sr., F - Merrick, N.Y.)
Gardner averaged 18.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 offensive rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 42.3% from the floor and 11-for-12 (91.7%) on free throws in a two-game week. In a 77-73 overtime loss at regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, he had 22 points, 13 rebounds, five offensive boards, three assists and a block while shooting 8-for-15 from the field and 5-for-6 on free throws. In an 87-76 loss at Assumption, which was receiving votes toward the D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, on Saturday, Gardner totaled 14 points, four rebounds and one assist while going 6-of-6 on freebies.
Matt Becht, Southern N.H. (So., G - Vienna, Va.)
Becht averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 45.8 percent (11-24) from the field, including 43.5 percent (10-23) from behind the arc, and 75 percent (6-8) from the stripe, during a 1-1 week for the Penmen. Becht tallied 16 points (4-11 FG, 4-11 3-FG, 4-5 FT) and six rebounds in Wednesday's 77-73 overtime win against Saint Michaels. He then went for 22 points (7-13 FG, 6-12 3-FG, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 87-83 overtime loss at Franklin Pierce on Saturday.
Isaiah Burnett, Stonehill (Sr, G - Annapolis, Md.)
Averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the No. 24-ranked Skyhawks. Shot 45-percent from three-point range (9-for-20) for the week. Led Stonehill to a key 71-70 win at Saint Anselm to remain unbeaten in NE10 play on Sunday with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 6-for-11 from three-point distance, with four rebounds, two assists and three steals. Opened the week with ten points, six rebounds, four steals and an assist against St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
