High Seeds Advance to Monday's Quarterfinals.


MANSFIELD, Mass. - The first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship continued on Saturday afternoon, as all higher seeds won to advance to Monday's quarterfinal round. Two of the three games were decided by just four points. 

All four quarterfinal contests - which will feature both No. 1 and 2 seeds - on Monday will be available live and for free on NE10 NOW, the Conference's digital platform. 


No. 2 Franklin Pierce (NE) 86, No. 7 American International (SW) 82 - Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. - The Northeast Division's No. 2 seeded Franklin Pierce men's basketball team took a win in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Championship, defeating American International College by a close 86-82 final score on Saturday afternoon. Junior guard Isaiah Moore and forward Maxwell Zegarowski led the way for the Ravens, scoring 32 and 17 points respectively in the effort.


No. 3 Saint Anselm (NE) 84, No. 6 Southern Connecticut 65 - Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Miles Tention put home 30 points on Saturday for the Saint Anselm men's basketball team, helping the Hawks to an 84-65 victory against Southern Connecticut State in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs.

Saint Anselm, the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Division, improves to 16-9 overall on the season while Southern Connecticut State, the No. 6 seed out of the Southwest Division, sees its season come to a close with a 7-18 overall record. The Hawks will travel to Connecticut on Monday, Feb. 28, taking on the second-seed from the Southwest Division, the University of New Haven, in an NE10 Quarterfinals matchup to begin at a time to be determined.


No. 4 Saint Rose (SW) 80, No. 5 Southern New Hampshire 76 - Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. – Saint Rose held off visiting Southern New Hampshire 80-76 in today's first-round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship inside the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
 
The Golden Knights (14-11) will now visit nationally ranked Bentley (#20/#13) in a quarterfinal Monday. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm in Waltham, Mass. The Falcons (19-4), who grabbed an 83-68 win in Albany earlier this season, earned a first-round bye as the top seed in the Northeast Division.
 
This afternoon's affair was in doubt until the final buzzer with 10 lead changes, 13 ties, and neither team generating more than a six-point advantage throughout the entire 40 minutes. Saint Rose shot 49.2 percent (29-for-59) from the floor and 37.9 percent (11-for-29) from the arc, while the Penmen (13-11) converted only 28.6 percent (8-for-28) of their attempts from long distance.
