Ed Cannon - Men's Soccer Coach - Saint Anselm College
Cannon has been a fixture of the Hawks since joining Saint Anselm
as an assistant coach in 1974. He was named head coach a year later
in 1975. He solidified his reputation for producing a consistent
winner in the Northeast-10 Conference, coaching the program to an
NE-10 record 12 titles; six regular season and six tournament, and
leading Saint Anselm to back-to-back ECAC Division II Championships
in 1998 and 1999.
Over his 11 seasons on the Saint Anselm sidelines, Cannon compiled
a 134-65-13 overall record and an 80-29-7 mark in the NE-10 regular
season play to go along with a 13-6-1 mark in post season play
including two consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division II
Regional championships in 2000 and 2001.
When Cannon retired from coaching, we brought with him a career
record of 272-204-41 (.566) good enough for eighth place on the all
time wins list among Division II Coaches. A six time NE-10 Coach of
the Year, Cannon was so honored four times in a five year stretch
(19995, 1996, 1998 and 1999).
He has been also recognized by the NSCAA and NEISI through his
career, including earning NSCAA Northeast Regional Coach of the
Year honors in 1996 and 1998.
