Perhaps one of the easiest choices for the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame, Mario Elie remains one of the greatest players in the history of the conference, whose post-collegiate success is unrivaled by almost any other athlete.

Under his guidance from 1981-85, AIC posted a combined record of 91-32 which included a pair of NE-8 Tournament championships and three NCAA Tournaments. Elie's saved his best season for his last, guiding his Yellow Jackets to a 29-4 mark and brought an NE-8 team to the Division II "Elite Eight" for the first time in 1985, a feat that would not be matched again until 1999.

Elie is the only three-time Player of the Year in Northeast-10 history after earning Rookie of the Year honors in 1981-82. 21 years after he played his final game, he remains second in program history in scoring and steals and in the top 10 in rebounding and assists.

Elie went on to an 11-year NBA career with six different teams. He captured back-to-back NBA championships with Houston in 1994 and 1995, and earned another title with San Antonio in 1999. Retiring from the NBA in 2000-01, he served as an assistant coach with San Antonio last season and is on the Golden State Warriors staff this season.

In 1998, he was named to the Rockets 30-Year Team as one of the top 10 players in club history.
