The Owls cut down the nets in front of a nationally televised ESPN2 audience in March of 2007, as they defeated now-Division I Florida Gulf Coast in the title game, 61-45.
Under the direction of Joe Frager, and with current Southern Connecticut head coach Kate Lynch starring, the Owls finished 34-2 and won the NE-10 regular season and conference championship on the way to the national title.
The newest members of the NE-10 Hall of Fame were honored at the conference’s annual banquet, which was held on June 6.
- The 06-07 squad still owns the SCSU single-season record for wins with 34
- Lynch, the NE-10 Player of the Year in 06-07, was the team’s leading scorer (18 ppg) and was inducted into the NE-10 Hall of Fame back in 2014
- The Owls handed Florida Gulf Coast its first loss of the season in the title game after FGCU entered the contest with a perfect 34-0 mark
- Four Owls scored in double figures in the championship game led by LaShauna Jones’ 19 points and Lynch’s double-double
