The 2006 Dolphins squad defeated Dowling in front of nearly 24,000 fans in Philadelphia to claim their second national title in three seasons. Mike McDonald scored four goals in the title game, helping the Dolphins complete a perfect 18-0 season.
During the year, Le Moyne outscored its opponents by a remarkable 262-66 margin, including a 22-3 win over Limestone in the national semifinals. The Dolphins won their sixth consecutive NE-10 title that season and capped off their perfect season with a 12-5 win in the title game.
Despite falling behind 2-1 early in the first quarter, Le Moyne outscored Dowling 11-3 the rest of the way. McDonald was named NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, while goalkeeper Jared Corcoran made 12 saves in the victory. With the win, Le Moyne's senior class closed out its four seasons with a 62-2 record, four NCAA tournament trips and two national championships.
