A member of the athletic department since 1968, Robert E. Burke is now in his 19th and final year as the Director of Athletics at American International. He also serves as the chairman of the Physical Education Department at AIC.

He will step down from both roles this summer however as he moves on to a very richly deserved retirement.

Bob served as an assistant football coach from 1968 to 1976 when he was appointed the head coach where he served seven years including five straight winning seasons before he stepped up rather than down moving into the associate athletic director role for three years before assuming AD duties in 1986.

During his 37-year association with the college, Burke has become a prominent part in overseeing the development and success of the school's well-renowned 16 varsity athletic programs.

Despite his busy schedule overseeing his own athletics program, Bob found the time to step in and serve as conference commissioner in early 1990, helping to guide the conference until 1995, a time of continued progress and steady oversight that helped the NE-10 continue to grow into a regional and eventual Division II national power.
