In December, 2010 at the NCAA’s Fall Festival, the River Hawks completed a perfect season with a 1-0 win over Shippensburg in Louisville in the National Championship game. NE10 Player of the Year Liz Day scored the only goal of the game late in the first half as UMass Lowell claimed it’s second national title in the sport.
The River Hawks posted a 24-0 record and - rather remarkably - only allowed 8 goals all season long. Sammy Macy led the offense with 76 points, and would later be named the Honda Division II National Athlete of the Year, while goalkeeper Melanie Hopkins led the country with a mind-boggling 0.35 goals against average for the champions.
