Milt Piepul served as the AD at AIC from 1971 to 1986 and also served as the College's head football coach from 1971 until 1976, when future AIC AD Bob Burke took over the reigns of the Yellow Jacket gridiron program.

Piepul's five-year tenure as head football coach culminated in a 8-1 record in 1975, after which he was named New England Coach of the Year by both the New England Football Writers and UPI.

A 1941 graduate of Notre Dame, he played football for the Fighting Irish and was a two-time All-American fullback. He went on to play a season for the Detroit Lions, and went on to coach at the collegiate level as an assistant, first at Dartmouth and then Brown. He then worked in the football office at Holy Cross before moving on to UMass in 1968 then AIC three years later.

A native of Springfield, Mass., Piepul served on numerous committees of both the NCAA and ECAC, and was a member of the American Football Coaches' Association for over 50 years. He also served as President of the Springfield Tip-Off Classic, which annually pits two of college basketball's top teams against each other in the city. He was also active in the Western Massachusetts chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.

Milt passed away in 1994 at the age of 75.
