Gailliard is the first football student-athlete to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Gailliard had a tremendous career at American International as he finished with 6,523 career-rushing yards, which ranks him seventh in NCAA history. At the time, he was ranked second in NCAA history after the 1999 season. He capped his 1999 season with 2,653 rushing yards, which broke NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sander’s record of 2,628.

Gailliard compiled a number of awards during his playing career which includes the 1999 Harlon Hill trophy runnerup, the Don Hansen Division II Back of the Year (1999), First-Team Don Hansen All-American (1999), First-Team AP All American (1999) and was named Second-Team AP All American (1998).

He was a two-time Daktronics Division II All American, Two-Time ECAC Player of the Year Two-Time Season Gold Helmet Winner, and a Two-Time All New England. In addition he was selected the EFC Most Valuable Player in 1998 and the EFC Offensive Player of the Year in 1999.
