NE10 Player of the Week
Michael Draskin, Adelphi
Junior | Infield | Hungtington, N.Y.
In the first two games of a four-game series with Pace on Saturday, Draskin went 5-for-10 in the doubleheader with three home runs and eight RBI. He had the statement of the series with a grand slam in the top of the seventh of Game 2 that put the contest out of reach. He hit .385 overall in a 3-0 week for Adelphi.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Jack Choate, Assumption
Junior | Pitcher | North Grafton, Mass.
Choate was once again magnificent in his only start and appearance this past week, which resulted in a 3-2 Greyhounds' win over Franklin Pierce in walk-off fashion. Choate threw a complete game one-hitter in which he struck out 14 and yielded one earned run.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Cole Maucere, New Haven
Freshman | Outfield | West Babylon, N.Y.
Maucere finished a three-game week with four hits in six at-bats (.667) while also registering seven walks, reaching safely 11 times (OBP of .857). He also scored six runs, drove in three runs, while one of his hits came as the first collegiate home run for the rookie outfielder. He opened up the week with a hit and two walks, scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs against Bridgeport. He followed that up with a five walk outing in the series opener against Southern New Hampshire, while he came around to score twice after earning the free passes. In the second game of the day against the Penmen, he registered three hits, including opening up the game with a lead-off solo home run over the right field fence.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Emilio Acosta, Assumption (Jr., OF - Cromwell, Conn.)
Acosta helped Assumption register a 4-1 record this past week by batting .429 and going 9-for-21 with two doubles from the plate. He drove in three runs in a 13-8 road win over AIC, four runs during a 4-for-5 performance in a 14-9 victory over Franklin Pierce, and had the walk-off hit to lead the Greyhounds to a 3-2 triumph against Franklin Pierce in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Saturday. Acosta also ended the weekend on a five-game hitting streak.
Ian Battipaglia, Franklin Pierce (So., INF - Cheshire, Conn.)
Hit .375/.412/.813, for a 1.225 OPS over 16 at-bats (6-for-16), in a 1-3 weekend for the Ravens at Assumption. Hit one double and two home runs, scored three times and drove in nine along the way. Did the bulk of his damage in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, when he went 4-for-5 with a double, a three-run home run and a grand slam, scored three times and drove in seven, in Franklin Pierce's lone win of the weekend.
Kyle Roche, Franklin Pierce (So., RHP - Braintree, Mass.)
In Saturday's second game against Assumption, threw six innings, allowed just two unearned runs on five hits, walked one and struck out a career-high 13 in a no-decision.
Ty Syta, Le Moyne (Sr, 1B - Hamburg, N.Y.)
Syta slashed .500/.615/1.100 with two home runs, nine RBI and three runs scored in Le Moyne's 2-1 week. He went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two walks, six RBI and three runs scored in a 12-4 victory over Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. He had a hit and two RBI in a setback to the Owls in Saturday's nightcap. He went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a 6-1 win over the Owls on Sunday.
Thomas Eletto, New Haven (Sr., OF/P - Locust Valley, N.Y.)
Eletto led the Chargers to a series opening victory against Southern New Hampshire this past weekend, throwing seven innings against the regional power, allowing just one earned run while securing his fourth victory of the season. Overall, Eletto surrendered eight two hits and struck out six batters.
Mitch McCabe, Pace (Gr., OF - Chelmsford, Mass.)
McCabe led Pace's offense with a monstrous three games last week. The graduate student went 8-for-14 (.571) with six RBIs and three runs scored. McCabe did it all at the dish, finishing with five singles, a double, a triple and a home run. All in all, he totaled a slugging percentage of 1.000 in 14 at-bats.
Nolan Elmore, Saint Anselm (So., C - Brentwood, N.H.)
The sophomore drove in 10 runs as the Hawks posted a 3-2 week including taking three of four from Bentley. Elmore opened the weekend with a 3-for-4 day at Southern New Hampshire with two doubles and two runs batted in before launching two homers and plating five in the 13-7 win over Bentley. Elmore added two hits and RBI in an 8-6 comeback win for Saint Anselm. Elmore batted .389 (7-18) on the week with an .833 slugging percentage.
Jack McDonald, Saint Rose (Jr., 1B - Meriden, Conn.)
McDonald batted .556 (5-for-9) with a grand slam, six RBI, and two runs scored throughout Friday's doubleheader sweep at American International.
Andrew Eng, Southern Conn. St. (Sr., OF - Ridgewood, N.J.)
Eng powered Southern to a 7-3 win against Le Moyne as he homered twice and drove in five runs, including a walk-off grand slam in a tied game in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Owls' second game of the series against the Dolphins. For the series, Eng was 4-for-11 with a double, two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored.
Cristian Mercedes, Southern N.H. (So., UT - Providence, R.I.)
Mercedes went 8-for-12 (.667) with a home run, four RBI and five runs scored during a 2-1 week for the Penmen, while getting on base at a .692 clip and slugging .917 for a 1.609 OPS. Mercedes was 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored in a 10-5 win over Saint Anselm on Wednesday and then went a combined 5-for-9 with an RBI and a run in Saturday's doubleheader split with New Haven.
